Subject: | FW: NE Clinic Update |
Guys,
This update is going out to everyone who has told me that you=92re
coming
and to several Yak guy=92s emails I found in my address book. Spread
the
word, anybody in a Yak/CJ is welcome.
Help! This has become such a big event (now over 25 planes coming) that
I need some help in planning our meals at night. I need you each to let
me know what nights you will be here. Just send me a reply and tell me
Friday, Saturday, or both nights. I need this information ASAP, but
absolutely NLT April 25th. If you want to eat dinner (and drink beer)
with us, you got to tell me what nights you=92ll be here!
You can also go to the RedStar website http://www.flyredstar.org/
and register for the event. Email me or register ASAP!!
We are less than three weeks away from the Clinic: CALL THE COMFORT INN
(410-820-8333) ASAP to make a reservation. Ask for the RedStar
discount. This is a tourist area and rooms fill up FAST in the spring!
I anticipate that this hotel will run out of rooms. If so, call the
Holiday Inn Express (next door to the Comfort Inn), 410-819-6500, and
ask for the Maryland Air corporate rate. Our local FBO is allowing us
to use his rate there, but rooms are limited.
As I=92ve said before, Jim Meadow=92s and I will have several loaner
cars
for your use. However, so many guys are now coming that a couple rental
cars may be required. If some of you group together and rent a car it
would be a big help. Call Maryland Air (410-822-0400) and tell them
you=92re coming to the RedStar fly-in and they=92ll give you a good
rate.
Call ahead of time and your car will be sitting here at the airport when
you arrive.
Fuel/Oil: Guys, the FBO is going to give us a $0.50/gal discount on all
fuel. Lord knows what 100LL will be selling for, but we=92ll get =BD a
buck
off that price. Top off all your tanks before you go home! The FBO
also ordered 10 cases of Phillips 25W60 (one gallon jugs). Don=92t
bother
bringing oil with you.
That=92s all that=92s new. Pray that Charlie Lynch doesn=92t fail us
and we
have good weather. I will attach the previous update below for guys who
may have missed it:
-Steve Dalton
We=92re less than a month away from our spring clinic (May 2-4).
Here=92s
an update on the latest news:
1. So far there are 22 planes attending. If you haven=92t already
done so, please let me know if you=92re attending.
2. We will have at least SEVEN Instructors and Check Pilots at the
clinic. There is also a good chance we will have both our RPA President
(Darrell =93Condor=94 Gary) and VP (Dave =93Talon=94 McGirt) flying with
us!
Come meet the Grand Poo-Bah=92s in person.
3. All these IP=92s and CP=92s will be there to work with all current
and future Flight Leads. The goal is to grow our NE culture of
excellence with our Lead pilots. Anyone needing Wing training is also
welcome.
4. If you haven=92t already done so, CALL THE COMFORT INN
(410-820-8333) ASAP to make a reservation. Ask for the RedStar
discount. This is a tourist area and rooms fill up FAST in the spring!
5. I just had a meeting up in the control tower with the Airport
Manager, Tower Chief and other controllers. They are all very excited
about our event. I explained to the tower guys how we operate
(formation take offs, and overheads to land) and they will be giving us
priority in the pattern over the spam cans. We also worked out a
parking plan that you will like (very convenient).
6. I anticipate the =93event fee=94 to be $75-$100 per person for the
weekend. This pays for dinner and beer on both Friday and Saturday
night, refreshments during the day, and to cover some minor facility
costs (like a couple dry-erase boards and other stuff).
7. Dinner Friday night will be in a big corporate hanger at the
airport. It will be a catered meal by a very popular local chef who
will be grilling our meal in front of the hanger. He will also cater
our dinner Saturday night (which will include local favorite
dishes=85really GOOD stuff). We=92ll also have plenty of beer on hand.
A
very FUN event is planned for Saturday night entertainment. Don=92t
miss
it!
8. We will have two FBO=92s providing fuel (at discounted prices), so
refueling should be fairly rapid and not delay us. They will have
Phillips 25w60 on hand, so don=92t worry about dragging it with you.
9. I don=92t think anyone will need to rent a car, but if you want
one the FBO will have them available (at a good rate).
10. We will be getting both local print and TV media coverage.
Here=92s your chance to star on TV. Harry, don=92t get any ideas!
11. The tower controllers and airport manager want to fly with us
and I anticipate several media rides as well. I=92d like to ask each of
you to all plan on giving one ride to these folks while you=92re here.
Spare chutes and headsets will be greatly appreciated.
12. There will be a Mass Formation event on Saturday afternoon.
This will be our big media event for the weekend.
13. Ski is coming from TX and will present a clinic on the proper
way to clean your Yak/CJ. This clinic will run from sunup to sundown on
Friday.
14. CALL THE HOTEL ASAP!!!

Subject: | Request from French RPA members |
" Bonjour Byron,
We are looking with Lionel people that doesn't use anymore the russian or
chinese original radios / intercom from there planes (the round 4 pins).
We want to use russian and chinese helmet with original plugs, so we need to
plug them on an original cord with original plane plugs to the helmet and
modified on the other side to "US" plugs.
Regards,
Jacques " MARGO 12 " Suire"
With the full knowledge that I would fail terribly in an attempt to make such
a request in my school-boy French, let me try to put the above in coloquial
English.
>From past e-mails, I know that Jacque and Lionel are former French military
pilots who are in the agonizing process of importing a CJ into France. In the
note above, they are in search of anybody here who no longer uses Chinese or
Russian radios, but still may have the intercom cords with round, four pin
connectors. So that they can use authentic Chinese or Russian helmets, they'll
modify the cords by putting a US connector on one end.
Thanks for your help, Blitz
