Below is a cut and paste from an EAA article on their web site today. Is it possible
BOTH the FAA and EAA got this very simple test wrong?
>> EAAs auto fuel Alcohol Test Kit allows a pilot or aircraft maintenance technician
to make preventative tests on auto fuel, even before fuel is purchased for
an aircraft. Simply pour water, then auto fuel, in the included test tube and
shake it to mix the contents. When the mixture has settled within five to 10
minutes, a gauge on the test tube indicates whether the water level has risen.
An increase in the amount of water on the gauge indicates that alcohol is present
in the fuel. The gauge will also indicate the percentage of alcohol. EAAs
kit is simpler than previous tests, as much less fuel is used to make a determination.

I put a garmin SL-30 on a subpanel. Works outstanding. I actually still
have the Russian Com as well as a back-up. No audio panel just a simple
switch in each cockpit. Both switch's have to be on the same side for the
respective intercom to work (obviously).

Indeed, we have an XCOM too in a Yak 52, but it's our second one. Our first
XCOM, brandnew, did not work properly. It took months before it came back
from the factory (probably a firmware problem, not electronics).
Meanwhile we ordered another one that worked perfectly. So we have a spare
now. The reason why we bought it in the first place, is for the built-in
intercom possibility. It is definitely a good choice.

A very functional radio that will fit well in the original VHF radio control
panel slot (with an adapter plate of course) is the XCom round VHF radio.
It is a 2 1/4" round (57mm) digital flip-flop radio with the capability to
monitor the standby frequency and with a built in VOX key intercom should
you wish to use the capability. Very cost effective.
http://www.xcom760.com/ You will need a voltage converter (28V to 14V) for
this and most other small, compact VHF radios.
