Dennis:
JPI has had a note about the M14 and the 231 transducer on their website for
a few years actually. It is just hard to find.
The 231 transducer is the required transducer no matter what any retailer
tells you.
I have been running this transducer and fuel flow unit in my 50 for 3 years
and they are a fantastic unit.

Yours is the 201B transducer Doc, which is the same one that I had before
JPI said I should have the 231. As I said, there was no difference
whatsoever in fuel flow. Particularly at WOT.

Anyone out there have a good cost on start to finish install of the
Dynon EFIS D10A?
Unit cost on their website is $2200. Is this the street price?
Plus what is the typical install? Who did your install also?
We have long since lost our attitude indicator and I have seen the
install in a few planes out there. Just wondering the total cost?

Herb,
I paid $2200 for mine last year. Great little tool. It is not bothered by acro,
but doesn't quite follow through with the manoeuvers. It lags a lot in roll.
Cant really rely on its information, but then again who would want to.
The installation was quite simple. I would recommend you also get the wiring harness,
it is an extra $100 but simplifies the installation greatly. Plus it allows
you to keep the EFIS up to date as far a software is concern.
My airplane mechanic (no avionic tech) installed the whole package(including the
remote compass in the tail) in less than 5hrs. If I were a little more of a
handyman, I would have done it myself in about 8hrs.
Works great,
Cheers,
Dan

Subject: | Gone west...(airplane...not person) |
I am here in Texas learning out to shoot a gun out of a moving helicopter....which
after what happened today, is a good thing. I was not home to see my airplane
leave and take a permanent heading of west. I was not home to turn around
and see an empty hangar.
My -50 will have a new home soon in the LA area. I feel confident it is going to
a good home and I hope to fly her again someday...at least that has been promised.
The -50 cannot be replaced by anything within reason! What a wonderful bird and
what made it more cool...was this community. What started out as a HORRIBLE buying
experience, turned into the building of lasting friendships and support.
My airplane would not have reached the level it did without the support of a
lot of people...many on here. I learned some lessons about trust and honesty..and
what you can expect from people.
So thanks everyone for making overall ownership a pleasant experience. I hope to
keep in touch with most..and still continue to fly some Yaks here and there.
Be good all and be safe....
Tim

It's a great unit - it's $2200 pretty much everywhere. Use SteinAir for
harness and support - Stein is great - they are factory authorized
manufacturer of the harnesses.
It will talk to an SL30, 49X Garmin and fuel computers. Amazing tool
for the price. My install included a ton of other upgrades so I can't
help on install costs. It seems very straight forward - manual is well
written.

Subject: | interest in Mid-Atlantic Fall Clinic???? |
Team,
Seeing that we've had/will have the Pumpkin drop (Main), lead clinic
(ESN), FAST Training (Flying W) and a few other events in the north
east, I'm contemplating a clinic in VA. Potentially HWY
(Warrenton/former W66), or Culpeper. We have plenty of Ramp space and
should have good weather in the October time frame. Since we have other
clinics focused on other themes, this clinic will be focused on the
following:
TAC Formation Training
TAC Formation Practice
Formation Flying
Precision "Carrier" Landing Contest
K-Kort
The Clinic will NOT focus on ACM.
The schedule will be focused on early brief and the scheduling flights
until light or Because of the type of flying (TAC, etc) there will not
be time set aside for recommendation rides or check rides. Also, pilots
attending should be comfortable with acro in their airplane and should
have FAST wing or better qualifications.
Preliminary plan is for:
Friday Morning Early Area and Clinic Safety Brief
Friday morning brief on TAC Formation Principles with morning and
afternoon practice.
Friday Evening Re-Brief on TAC Formation Principles and then Dinner
in Hanger
Saturday Morning brief on Landing Rules; Contest to be held before
Lunch
Saturday afternoon will continue TAC Formation and Formation Flying
Saturday Evening will be dinner in the hanger with K-Kort following
Sunday will be continued Formation flying and then folks heading
for home.
I'm currently looking for responses on the following:
1. Pilots interested in this type of event
2. Dates in October that fit
3. TAC Formation Instructor pilots available to commit to the event
(with their available dates)
4. Recommendations for changes to the above.
DaBear
PS, I'm not instructing this clinic, only organizing and interested on
learning like the rest of us, so it will depend on finding available
instructor pilots.
