'm a new Cj owner looking for some info on the Lamar clinic.
1. Will I need a parachute?
2. Are significant others allowed in the back seat?
3. Do I need to be in attendance for all days?
Thanks in advance,
Mike

Mike,
From the RedStar site:
What To Bring To The RPA Event
Besides a great attitude...
All RPA events, from All Red Star in the West, Oliver in the North,
Georgetown in the East, to Waycross in the South are a great time for any
RPA member or potential member.
If you are heading to the event, here is what you should consider
bringing with you:
a.. A check book! The RPA events are free to register for, but each
has a small event fee to cover costs.
b.. Your airmens certificate, medical, and experiemental aircraft
documents - we don't inspect, but lets carry them in case the local FSDO has
a need to (it's never happened, and you most likely will not see them at an
RPA event unless its co-located with an airshow)
c.. If you are involved in Formation flying at an RPA event, please
bring and wear a flight suit! Although you can wear street clothes to an RPA
event/Clinic, you will find that just about everyone has a flight suit on
when around the ramp at RPA events. Just put "flight suit sales" in google
and you will get a ton of hits. For information on Nomex and improved fire
retardent materials, see "Safety Bulletins" under the Communiciation secion.
d.. If you will have an RPA instructor on board providing FAST or
Tactical formation training, please bring a parachute. The FARS require a
parachute for the backseater as our formation flying meets FAR definitions
of aerobatic flight - if you don't own two, you can arrange to barrow one if
the instructor doesn't have his own.
Aircraft:
a.. If your aircraft is used in dual seat formation training, these
apply:
b.. Front to rear communication capability (and we aren't talking
about "yelling real loud" !
c.. Rear cockpit radio trasmission capability - so your backseater
can transmit if the need arises.
d.. Aircraft is good working order - now that's a no brainer! - Fly
safe!
-As for GIBs, my wife wouldn't let me go if she couldn't play also!
-Depending on your level of expertise, the more days you can be there
the better, but some come late and some leave early. There is a low level,
timed multiple target bombing competition on Friday morning. It will be flow
in two ship elements with randomly drawn wingmen. Saturday morning, flour
bombing, spot landing, balloon burst, etc. events are planned. Scott "KONG"
McMillian should be sending out a schedule of events soon. Contact him at
Aviatr@aol.com .
-Everyone who's coming that hasn't signed up yet needs to get signed
up soon so KONG has a better idea of who is coming and what types/levels of
training need to be scheduled.

Hi Mark,
Thanks for the quick reply.
Does the formation syllabus require a GIB? I am previous military but don't own

All kinds of significant others this year will be there. I know of at least 4
Female Gibs this year. Hey Mark maybe he is calling CJ's significant others and
not talking about Gibs? Show up at Lamar you won't regret it. Bring your Gib
and give her a camera. Mark told you the rest. We stay at the Cow Palace in
Lamar and have great Limo service to and from the hotel. Don't forget to ask
for the Red Star Special rate.

Subject: | Re: Yak-List Digest: Re: OL's and SAC's |
Dennis,
Senior moment....I stand corrected. What I was referring to was the
elimination of the requirement to notify the geographically
responsible FSDO for maintenance flights outside the proficiency
area....that was paragraph 46 in the old 8130-2. In 8130-2f the
paragraphs are all changed.
Thanks for bringing this up and correcting it Dennis. In my slip up
I was confusing the movement that created AFS-800 and *intent* of
EAAWB, CJAA, and others to get the re-issuance of OL's done away
with as opposed to what has actually been made official.....measure
twice, hit the send button once...my bad.
That being said, there is nothing in any of the new OL's that we've
had reissued for customers to remove the range restriction (all
through our local FSDO) that states a requirement to have them
reissued when the aircraft is relocated. But as you said, it's up to
the discretion of you local FSDO.
Cheers,
Barry
