K,
I've used a pre-oiler set up by Bill Blackwell at DVT. =C2-I've used it an
d 10 micron filter on my M-14p for some 1,500 hours as of my last annual.
=C2-I've also been using them religiously=C2-on the B-24 with the Collin
gs Foundation. =C2-They do make a difference. =C2-
A pre-oiler does not have to cost a lot. =C2-They are basically an electri
c fuel pump (24V) that takes oil off the oil tank (about half way up the tan
k) and pumps into the oil pump. =C2-I used the old oil=C2-dilution=C2
-switch (a momentary on switch) to do my pre oiling. =C2-Holding it on u
ntil I see some oil pressure on the gage. =C2-I found though tests that wi
th-in only 10 seconds or so after turning the switch on, I was getting oil f
low though the prop governor.
BTW guys have been on my ass for the last 3 days waiting for decent weather
here at HPN. =C2-All so far this year I had nothing but CAVU (well 99% of
the time). =C2-I getting tired sitting, selling T shirts, and answering th
e same questions, with no break to fly.

Pappy,
I agree it should be fairly simple and as I mentioned in my email to you the use
of the diluter momentary switch is a great idea. I don't see the need to tap
the oil tank though. Seems a couple T's as shown in the attached PDF and a check
valve positioned between them should work.
I'm probably missing something but with this plumbing and an on/off switch vs the
momentary switch it might be a decent back up if the engine driven pump fails.
I'm looking at a Reverso GP-300 24V pump. (which specs say will produce 40 PSI)
and a Strataflo 3/4" check valve.
Thoughts anyone?
