Subject: Fuel pressure gauge drops after TO in Yak 55m
Hi, I would like to know if anyone else has experienced this issue before and can provide some details. During taxi and run-up, all gauges look good. My fuel pressure guage (a Mitchell gauge) reads that the fuel pressure is in the green (above 5 PSI) . After TO and during climb, the pressure drops to the bottom of the green arc (2.5 PSI). The engine seems to behave normally at all ranges (full power and cruise). During descent to land and after landing the fuel pressure seems to rise to the normal ranges again(~5 PSI). My mechanic and I agree that it seems like the fuel pump may be the cause for the issue and a new one is the best course of action. I just wanted to see if anyone else has had this experience efore and can explaint it a little more than just a potentally faulty fuel pump. Thanks, Anthony.

I sure you remember my friend and workmate from Pilot magazine, Ian Davies, who flew with us on the formation photo shoots and did the video for the Pilot magazine website, well it is with great sadness that I inform you that he was killed in a flying accident last Wednesday. He was flying in a Christian Eagle with the owner when they collided with an agricultural vehicle as they came into land at our airfiel d at Seething in Norfolk, England. We do not believe he knew anything about it and did not suffer, the owner i s in a very serious condition. I am sorry to pass on this sad news and I know he reall y appreciated what you and the Red Star boys did for us when we were at Lakeland. Please could you pass on this information to Pappy and the rest of the Red Star guys who we met on our visits. I do hope that one day we will meet up again and brief for another mission sitting at funny angles in the back of your beautiful bird, all the best and stay safe, best wishes, Simon Finlay(Pilot magazine UK photographer) **************AOL Search: Your one stop for directions, recipes and all othe r Holiday needs.
