Once again, the URL for the Contribution web site is: http://www.matronics.com/contribution or by personal check to: Matronics / Matt Dralle PO Box 347 Livermore CA 94551-0347 I would like to thank Andy Gold of the Builder's Bookstore ( http://www.buildersbooks.com ), Jon Croke of HomebuiltHELP ( http://www.homebuilthelp.com ) and Bob Nuckolls of AeroElectric ( http://www.aeroelectric.com ) for their extremely generous support during this year's Fund Raiser through the contribution of discounted merchandise. These are great guys that support the aviation industry and I encourage each and every Lister to have a look at their products. Thank you Andy, Jon and Bob!! Your support is very much appreciated! And finally, below you will find a web link to the 2008 List of Contributors current as of 12/7/08! My YAK like most others is missing the seals under the rear seat where the flap actuator push pull tube goes out into the wing. Does anyone have a suggestion of a design and material that works well for a replacement. I'm trying to make the back seat a little less drafty for my GIB and maybe keep out a little CO in the process. Mark Davis N44YK

Although not as perfect as the original covers, I cut a piece of leather to fit over the flap rod hole opening and cut a "spoke" type pattern in the leather that has a vertical cut in it so as to be able to slide the leather over the flap rod and place it against the inside of the fuselage. Affix the leather to the inside of the fuselage with contact cement. It will keep a lot of the drafty air from freezing the ankles off your GIB. Subject: Fuel tank venting problems
I am seeking information and advice with regard to fuel leaking out of the in board Vent from the starboard tank. I fly an 18T with extended wing tanks. The problem is exclusively the left wing. As ambient temperature increases, pressure develops within the left wing, this results in a trickle of fuel coming out of the left in board vent, under the fuselage immediately inside the wing root. This is immediately stopped by opening the fuel cap of the outboard tank with an audible release of pressure. All ground checks show that all three air vents into the left-hand side are patent, with air flowing into them easily. There is never a problem with fuel starvation, the tanks drain reasonably symmetrically in-flight provided I am straight and level! With the tanks completely full (180 L in the two in board wing tanks and a further 70 L in each of the outboard wing tank), I can trigger the mechanism of fuel coming out of the in board left-hand vent, by doing a fuel drain through the central common feeder tank. I assume that this is beginning a siphon. On one occasion overtime approximately 1 week this resulted in the complete depletion of every drop of fuel in the right pair of fuel tanks. I assume a game that had this was a siphon set up, of unusual nature. My LAME has been over the aircraft, and cannot find a fuel blockage or drain problem anywhere. Has anyone seen this pattern before or have any advice before I open every single screw and panel and pull apart the fuel tanks? Stewart sgyak18t@bigpond.com

Stewart, In your first sentence you refer to the inboard vent from the starboard tank. Then in the 3rd sentence your refer to the problem as exclusively from the left tank. If you'll contact me off list, I may be able to give you some guidance on troubleshooting the vent system because I have seen a very similar problem on the 52. I just finished the install of the rudder pedal mod by Barry and test flew. What a difference! Although I had to drill out the 6mm hole to 1/4" at the pivot point and move an airline on the left side. Folks sharing pilot duties with a "Short Round" (USMC jargon for vertically challenged individuals) may have to chamfer the front inside corner with 1/4" radius to get more forward travel.
