Subject: | Re: CFM rating of the AK-50 compressor? |
The M14 manual indicates and AK-50A model compressor. And from the M14P
maintenance manual, "Time of filling bottle, 8 liters in capacity to
operating pressure (compressor delivery at eccentric speed of 1450
r/min) - 30 minutes. The minimum compressor rotation speed is stated as
1450 rpm and the maximum rotation speed is 2655 rpm for 1 minute, 2610
for 10 minutes and max continuous is 2300 RPM. The gear ratio for the
compressor is .9 to crankshaft speed. For comparison purposes the
gearbox ratio is .658 to crankshaft speed which is as we all know, the
prop rotation ratio to crankshaft.

Page 107 CJ6 tec/spec manual states "The dbl stage KY-2A air
compressor has the capicity to fully charge the bottle of 8 liters in 22
minutes"
Page 34 of the M462RF engine (AK-50M compressor) manual states " Time
of charging a 12 liter steel cly to pressure of 50 kg per sq cm at
compressor speed 1800 rpm is max 26 minutes.
Rather compressor RPM is the same as engine RPM I do not know.
Difference between AK-50 and AK-50M is also unknown.
Hope this helps,

doug

Thanks guys,
So, has anyone managed to convert this to a CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute) value?
CFM ratings are usually given at a constant psi, not a gradient as I found in the
manuals of both the Yak and the CJ and Doug and Dennis were so nice to reproduce.
Lemme know,
Mike

Ok here's another one,
Yak 55 owners, does anyone have or could they take pictures of the removable panels
that mount around the forward inside edge of the cowling on their 55?
Thanks
