I just have to add that "The Exchange Rate" is not helping many of us
here either these days.
Agreed that it is probably not the exact same "EXHANGE" that you speak
of! Ours is called THE NEW YORK STOCK ____
:-)
Take care,

Troops,
23 airplanes and a bunch of neat guys and Mrs Charlotte.
There was also a cute little bar maid, whom was christened with the call
sign "tackle box".
Hearing "Goatboy" (or was it Soups?) sing "I've got that lonely feeling" in
the bar.
One very broken airplane and 4 or 5 airplane still stuck there till about
noon today because of weather.
"Weeds" was our honored speaker and got a taste of RPA formation.
3 check rides done along with new cards, plus a couple of rec-rides.
A 800 foot ceiling and 4 nm vis, for about 5 nm was my departure weather
with pea green machine stuck to my wing for dear life. He was trusting my auto
pilot!
I was serenaded by "Soups" on the radio until I pulled the head-set plug!
Great week! Detailed write up in Red Alert.

Gang,
Here's the response from John at Smoking Airplanes. Good changes have
apparently been made to his system....see below.
Cheers,
Barry

From: "Smoking Airplanes" <john@smokingairplanes.com>
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
G'day Barry,
Thank you for recommending my smoke system kits, I truly appreciate it!
I've changed a couple of things on my kits since the last kit that you
ordered. The Pressure Hose that routs from the Oil Mixture Valve (at the
pump) to the Gray Check Valve at the firewall (approx. 14 foot run) is now
3/8" ID instead of the 1/4" ID hose that I was using. The Gray Check Valve
is now 3/8" replacing the 1/4" valve. Regardless of the application (single
injector or double injector), the blue anodized bulkhead fitting has been
replaced with a AN -6 (3/8" ID) on the cockpit side to AN-4 (1/4) "T" on the
engine side of the firewall. This change was implemented after a series of
test revealed that the 1/4" (-4) hose coupled with the 1/4" Check Valve and
the 1/4" bulkhead fitting was restricting the flow of oil from the pump to
the injectors. This restriction resulted in an insufficient volume of oil
to the injectors..hence..not the most dense smoke trail possible.
Two of theses updated kits were recently shipped to a customer in New
Zealand where they will be installed into Yak 52's (with double injector
kits). The customer is aware of the change and will report the difference
between previous Smoking Airplanes kits that are flying there and the new
kits for smoke density and overall performance.
Note: With the recent change (about a $40.00 loss in profit) there will be
no price increase on any of my kits!
If the increase in diameter of the hose, check valve and bulkhead fitting
increase the density of the smoke trail as I suspect, there will be no
reason to increase the PSI (35) of the oil pump. If the we find it
necessary to increase the PSI of the oil pump....unfortunately, there will
be an increase in the price of a kit... Probably only $50.. so the kit will
still be less than $1000.
Onward and upward,,,,smok'em if you got'em...but most of all, HAVE MORE FUN
AND TOYS THAN THE OTHER GUY!!!!
Thanks again Barry and feel free to share this with the "yak list dudes (and
dudets)."
