Subject: | Re: Watches of the Peoples Liberation Army |
I've received more interest and have put in an order for 100 watches. I've ordered
the one's getting the most attention. The commemorative (top left) of the
revolution may not be available and the watch below is the alternate.
I'll keep this thread updated with shipping progress.

Subject: | Re: Is HS-6A's carburettor replacedcarburettor |
You're right Walt.- =0A=0AAny carb can be used on just about any engine y
ou want.- Sometimes even with an increase in horsepower, sometimes with a
decrease, but a person can make an engine "run" with just about anything t
hat mixes fuel and air.- I imagine that with enough effort, I could get a
Holley Dominator to work on an M-14.- Wouldn't work too well in a negati
ve G environment, but I could make it run.- =0A=0AThat said: =0A=0AThe HS
6A was made and calibrated to be used on a similar engine as the M-14 with
a different cam profile, and one that put out significantly less horsepower
.- If a person has the proper equipment such as a flow bench, or engine r
un test facility (such as an engine dyno) and wishes to recalibrate the HS6
A carb, it can probably be adapted to run on just about any radial out ther
e.- However, if one were to go to this kind of effort and wanted to step
into the field of experimental engine designs (no factory ever mounted an H
S6A on an M-14) it might be more advantageous to use a system that offers m
ore potential gain such as a modern fuel injection system that can be much
more easily adapted to different engine types.- =0A=0AA much more accurat
e statement would have been: "The HS6A is not a direct replacement for the
M-14 engine."- And while I do not qualify as a Russian Engine Expert, I w
ill submit that I am an expert on a number of-race engine designs with ab
out 30 years experience, and have built and tuned a number of engines for h
igh performance applications.- That said, I would not recommend trying to
adapt an HS6A carb to the M-14 unless there is no other choice.- Any car
b that is designed to be used on an engine that differs in horsepower by 30
% or more is likely to suffer from inadequacies in CFM capacity and will be
very difficult to tune successfully.-Of course even that can be correcte
d if a person is willing to mill out the venturi size.- I would recommend
Barry Grant Enterprises if a serious effort is contemplated. Of course the
re is also the matter of- linkage differences and the fact that if instal
led in an aircraft already running a standard M-14 it
will require modification for the manual mixture control.- =0A=0ABut yes
Walt .. it could be done. =0A=0AHowever since the person in question sells
aircraft parts, and is not in the experimental engine business, and is mor
e than likely not asking this question for his or her own use,- I suspect
it might be wise to keep the answer to this person simple, so that he or s
he does not end up selling an HS6A to an unsuspecting person who thinks it
will be a form fit replacement in an M-14 application.---=0A=0ARegard
ing what your answer would have been you said: =0AIf the question was " is
the HS6A carb. approved for use on the M14P" my answer would be hell no.=0A
=0AAnd your answer would have been incomplete and incorrect.- Nothing on
the M-14 in the United States has to be "approved for use" on an aircraft t
hat is in the Experimental Catagory.- That's why fuel is not an issue eit
her.- You can burn propane if you want to.- However, in most other coun
tries other than the United States, the whole aircraft has to keep to the t
he original parts specified in the aircraft manuals, so in those countries
"NO" would be a simple and accurate answer.- -=0A=0ASo I guess my answe
r chould have been: "WELL IT DEPENDS".--- =0A=0AHowever since the per
son asking the question was satisfied with the answers given, I submit that
the whole issue is moot.- Unless you are planning on putting an HS6A ont
o an M-14 that is.=0A=0ABest Regards, =0A=0AMark Bitterlich =0A=0A=0A=0A=0A

=0A=0AMaggies question was " can the HS6A carburettor be used in the M4P"
=0AMy answer would have been I don't know.- If the question was " is the

Hello,
Well just cleaned out the bank buying a yak 55m with a prop
strike(only 24 yrs old).It has a 3 blade whirlwind and they
want 6600 to fix it.Does anyone have a old 2 blade laying
around? I could rent or buy? to ferry the plane home. I have
3000+hrs and 500+ in pitts so it will be safe if i can just
rent one to get it home. Also in need of a Engine mount leg
if anyone has one laying around.
Thanks,
Chris Cox

What is wrong with it may I ask? Yes, it is possible to repair it depending on
what is wrong with it. I have taken several apart and have repaired them myself.
It is not all that hard to do, just be cautious taking it apart. Now CALIBRATING
IT is another story. Making sure it reads ONE G is a no-brainer, but
beyond that... Not as easy.
