    From: Yak 55M <yak55m@gmail.com>
Hi, I am seeking both a snot valve (remove condensation from air start system) and a sheer coupling (to attach AK50 air compressor to M-14P) for a Yak 55M. Any advice welcome - photos of these items would also help. Regards, Anthony.

    Subject: Chino Air Show
    From: "Barry Hancock" <bhancock@worldwidewarbirds.com>
Gang, Life these days seems to be full of challenges, grinding at work, and not a lot of fun flying for me. Today reminded me why I got into aviation in the first place...it's a dream come true. As a kid I used to go to air shows with my dad and dream of being a fighter pilot. I used to sit in my backyard at the age of 7 and listen for the jets departing out of El Toro...I could tell you what is was by the sound. I always wanted a P-51...until I grew up and found out how much the cost. That lead me to the CJ. What a great airplane. Now I rebuild them, fly them, train in them, and occasionally get to go out and just have fun in them. My pride and joy, 4 year, way over budget restoration of "Panda Monium" has sat in the hangar for 2 years now while we complete customer projects and pay the bills. The only thing that reminds me that it used to fly is when I break out the Aircraft Spruce catalog to find a part for a customer's airplane, and there it is....actual photo documentation, that it did fly. Someday it will fly again. The Chino Air Show is a mixed bag for me. The sheer volume of heavy iron is typically more than what you see at OSH. Walking the ramp Friday evening when only the locals are around and the buzz around the airport is reaching magical proportions is my favorite day of the year at CNO. Most of the flight demos are a rather boring litany of banana passes. Cool to see the old stuff fly, but they don't push them to the point that it's exciting...and who can blame them. Today, however, I was truly impressed. First it was the F7F Tigercat demo...watching that thing do low level acro with it's huge presence and unrivaled sound in all of aviation was a treat I'll never forget. Then came the most graceful and amazing piston engine formation demo I've ever witnessed. Enter the Horsemen flying 3...F8F Bearcats! I felt like I was watching the first Blue Angels demo. Impressive, impressive, impressive. Ed Shipley leads the team and has put together a fantastic web site to promote not only his act, but all of the air show industry. I just spent some time there and if you're not careful, you'll be on it for hours....all kinds of great stuff But for those of you who haven't had the privilege of seeing this routing...here it is, with cockpit audio. The sound of those 2800's are missing...but the display is phenominal! http://www.airshowbuzz.com/videos/view.php?v=067f19f9 Grab the popcorn and tell the wife you'll be "busy" for awhile...there's a ton of great stuff on this site. Have fun... B -- Barry Hancock Worldwide Warbirds, Inc. office (909) 606-4444 cell (949) 300-5510 www.worldwidewarbirds.com

All: While doing routine maintenance on my Yak 52, I found a crack in the notched cooling louver door just below the air box on the top left side. It is almost completely through the metal covering the wood and the wood below feels cracked. Does anyone know of a source for the doors? Dave Jester

Aircraft type? If Yak-52... it could be the breaker on the inside firewall near the middle. If you were in an over-volt situation it will trip the breaker. It is a push down type button. Push it down, and increase revs, if it trips again, then the voltage is exceeding 30 volts or so. Using the voltage adjust on the left side panel, you can reduce the max voltage. I have seen several aircraft that required the voltage adjuster to be removed and cleaned. Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=244311#244311
