If anyone is interested in an overhauled M14P engine with prop flange
for V530 or MTV 9 propeller, overhauled by SC Motorstar in 2008 with
overhaul paperwork, please contact me off-list. I have 3 engines
available. They are here in the US and presently stored in a climate
controlled storage facility in Alabama.
I will be happy to discuss a serviceable core exchange with you as well.

Can anybody please advise best method of sealing new windows in my YAK 18t?
I have tried the excellent Cessna sealing strip but it is too thick and
prevents the fitting of the fixing plates.
Thanks.

Subject: | Engine or prop judder on 18 T |
Hello everybody,
our 18 T has developed an engine or prop judder since last year that can be noticed
mainly in high speed low passes at , say, 70 % engine speed and over 250
kph . We replaced all engine mounting rubbers, did a dynamic prop balancing on
the ground with up to 90 % engine speed and the engine felt real smooth. But
in the air at high speed dives the shaking of the engine/prop was still there
- at a very reduced rate, but still noticeable . The setting of the blades was
checked and seemed to be allright in the dynamic balancing . Could we have a
problem with the prop hub in case the prop goes to fully coarse in the dive and
the blade angles in this condition might be different for each blade ? We suspect
some sort of backlash in the hub different for each side ? Has anybody an
idea on that one ? Or could it be an aerodynamic effect specific for the 18
T ? We will dig deeper next weekend but any ideas would be appreciated.
Regards
Helga and Vic

Yikes, silicone? It has been my experience that your going to be pretty
much screwed if you ever have to replace a section if it was installed with
silicone. The stuff just does too good of a job, it just wont let go! You
end up having to nearly destroy the frame to get the old piece out.

I believe there are special fillers available from Polyfiber people but I have
used normal car Bondo in thin sections and ensuring good surface to key to - it
seems to have worked fine with no shrinkage.

I have never replaced the glass on a 18T, so don't cant speak to the
problems or best methods for you. For Nanchang canopies I use Cessna
horizontal stabilizer leading edge tape from A/C Spruce. It's a thick black
tape seems to work well, never had a canopy leak.

Excellent point Doug and I second your comments 100%. I've seen the
effects of someone using clear silicone sealant. The front window frame
was almost destroyed while trying to remove the stuff from the frame.

Hi Biggles,
you may find places on the Yak where youd like to have the tape a few millimeters
thick, but mostly zero thickness would be fine. So youd better find some metric
sealing compound for the job on Russian aircraft like silicone. That way
adjustments while fitting the windows are possible. With tapes you might fall
into offensive language, but in some places tapes should do . When replacing windows
one day, I guess you will need a cutter anyway to separate the window from
the frame. Windshields on cars are glued as well, but I think this stuff is
even tougher than clear silicone. Id suggest you do a test elsewhere to find
out what suits you best for this job.
Regards
Vic

Subject: | Re: White Paper on Russian Generator System |
Hi All,
I have a situation with Mi-17-1V Russian Aircraft whereby when pilot switch off
all the generators after flight, I found that the combine device DMR-200D still
combining Rectifier Bus and Battery Bus.
I have test the DMR-200D to simulate as per on Aircraft operation. The "B" is shorted
to "+" terminal, "-" connected to ground, 'MAINS' connected to Battery
+24V, 'GEN' connected to DC Supply +28V.
I run the test. after put in the DC supply +28V, the DMR-200D combine the DC supply
+28V with the Battery +24V. Thats mean when I measure the voltage at both
terminal of 'GEN' and 'MAINS' the voltage are the same.
Then I reduce the DC Supply +28V down to 0V. I found that the DMR-200D still combining
the between the two terminal 'GEN' and 'MAINS'
I have two new DMR-200D. I tried both and the results show same.
My question. Is the DMR-200D was designed to be like that?
Is there a way to change the wiring connection so that the DMR-200D will release
the combination of 'MAINS' to 'GEN' after we cutoff all the powers of generators
of aircraft?
Refer attachment for the wiring diagram of DMR-200D on the Mi-17-1V aircraft.
Thanks,
Shahrul

Another good tape to use is the 20 mil black pipe wrapping tape. You can get
it at Home Depot, Lowes, etc.
