Keith: It is possible with one very long cap probe that is bent just right and worked thru the baffles and never contacts the tank. Probably only doable in theory. The other way is to do multiple straight capacitive probes in the tank (probably 2 would do it) and wire them in a summed probe configuration. One would go in the low end of the tank and the other in the high end. They would have to mount from the top and go down. To get clearance from the wing skin, you'd also have to recess them. It would take a bit of tank fabrication to do this. My opinion is this is a waste of time for the stock tanks as the sending units are typically very accurate. For either capacitive probe configuration, you'd need to change the gauge as well. Either install the Worlwide Warbird tanks, Gill's bladder tanks, do the Air Victoria mod, or install Doug Sapp's tanks if you want extra capacity. If you want a ton of capacity, add Doug's tanks and the WW tanks! To just manage fuel better, a fuel flow system that is wired to a GPS and installing rudder trim would be the best bet.
