Keith,
We can debate the value of AF vs Navy over a few beers! But when it
comes to ANG..AD AF, Marines, and Navy all come calling. We get the best
of the best!
Are you good enough?

Getting recommended to attend to Top Gun, Fighter Weapons School or WTI
(Marines) takes a helluva lot more time than two years.
I wish I had known (before I spent 6 years getting the nod) that I could
have done it in under a week.
Probably gives out a set of AF wings when you're done. (Naval Aviator
wings would take an additional week.)

The "Best of the Best" go to the Air National Guard? Shoot, I didn't
know it was made up mostly of Marines Doc. Thanks for telling me!
"We can debate the value of AF vs Navy over a few beers anytime", but a
comment:
Keith was a Marine. Do not equate that to being "in the Navy". The
Marines are to the Navy as a flush chain is to an old toilet; Part of
it, but not IN it.
That point aside, also be aware that Sailors and Marines fight at every
opportunity, until someone from the Air Force walks by, then they beat
the crap out of those poor guys as a team.
Finally, tell me something on a professional note: Since we both would
agree that the Air Force has tactical missions in the real world....
Just who is providing EW support for your aircraft? Including the F-117
models back before they retired? Hmmm? Did you know that the Air Force
CONTRACTED the Department of the Navy to do that for them? Yep. Right
after they retired the EF-111. An "embarrassing fact" if you ask me.
End of debate.

Yes as I remember it was a cost cutting measure to incorporate the AF
Ardvark Drivers with the A-6 guys to get all in one airframe at one cost.

Yeah, but you take the Navy guys off of the boat and deploy them to your
typical country club AFB and you ruin them forever! All those shipboard
skills deteriorate rapidly. They lose their ability to walk on bulkheads
(walls) on a rolling ship, no longer can they sleep under a jet blast
deflector during flight ops that's making shit fall off of the walls in
their stateroom, they get overly sensitive because they're not used to
getting pounded on by LSO's after every trap, their skills dull for their
night joinups on a tanker with a low fuel state because the deck's foul,
they forget how to read stuff like " - HX S.CHLUIM LoBIC EGAR PNUTL T1"
(Interpreted to mean, "No grade pass (shitty grade) high start, settle on
chase lineup in the middle, low flat in close, ease gun at the ramp, pull
nose up to land. Taxi one wire."), but mostly they forget what it's like to
get shot up a dead cow's ass (night cat) and they learn to land at night
without their knees shaking afterward. Yup, ruins 'em forever! : )

Subject: | Housai oil ring mod |
Hi all.
Anyone out there have any experience or advice with regards to installing
oil control rings in the standard CJ6 engine?
I understand that there are suitable rings out there being used in the M-14
and the results are vastly reduced oil burns.
Cheers, Jay
