Subject: | Re: Looking for info from pilots who have used TruTrac APs in |

I have had a tru trac system for several years in my yak 52w and been quit
e
pleased with it. George Coys group installed it.
Several observations.....
I have it hooked up to work off the course trac from my Garmin 496. It
works great.
The display is hard to read. It is supposed to have a light and if I cover
the sensor it does light.
The guys locally do not like me leading a flight with the auto pilot on as
it has a tendency to porpoise slightly in and wind/turbulence. They do not
understand lead is always in position.
It has been a great tool to get some relief on long solo cross countries
to SnF & Osh. Folding maps is a LOT easier.
I also have a Horizon brand digital tac which is far superior to the
original equipt. After re-soldering the original tac generator multiple ti
mes I
installed a replacement. The factory set the indicator lights for max
continuous rpm based on my specifications. It takes a while to retrain you
r
brain not to try to set a specific digital rpm. The digital mag drop durin
g ru
n-up is helpful.

the servos handle pitch and roll just fine (i.e. pretty smooth and

I put in a E Z autopilot. It took me 1 day to install. It took 1 day to
install the pitch control servo when I later install altitude hold. Most
the time is running wires and hooking up switches.
It made the trips to OSH, Delaware, and Maine a pure pleasure this year.
Lets you do in-flight management (folding - un folding maps, checking
weather, tuning radios, etc) without having to keep track of the airplane. I
believe it added a factor of safety for me.

Has anyone installed the Dynon system yet? With the 5.1 soft ware update,
the D10A and the D100 are supposed to drive a 2 axis servo system with the
addition of a wiring harness for the servos and a HS 74 interface module.

The only problem with being able to see the target normally meant it was
daytime, which meant the bad guys saw the black "look at me" exhaust
five minutes before you saw them. I called a tally on a section of
Phantoms off of the Midway at 70 miles in the Sea of Japan on a really
clear day.

TruTrac APs in a CJ.
I'm waiting for their sky view system. I'll then install that
and the
autopilot.
I'm still looking for the surplus APQ-120 Radar system for it.

Has anyone installed the Dynon system yet? With the 5.1
soft
ware update, the D10A and the D100 are supposed to drive a 2
axis servo
system with the addition of a wiring harness for the servos
and a HS 74
interface module.

I am sold on my D10A in the 50.

I put in a E Z autopilot. It took me 1 day to install.
It took
1 day to install the pitch control servo when I later install
altitude
hold. Most the time is running wires and hooking up switches.
It made the trips to OSH, Delaware, and Maine a pure
pleasure
this year. Lets you do in-flight management (folding - un
folding maps,
checking weather, tuning radios, etc) without having to keep
track of
the airplane. I believe it added a factor of safety for me.
