Hi,
I have the original compact/folding tow bar. It's aYak size russian tow bar
but the advantage is that it has pins that allow you to fold it in two parts
making it compact enough to get in a 18T luggage compartment.
I can tke measures and close pictures of it if it can help.
Just say if you want.
Kind regards

Doug,
The carburetor diaphragm for the M14 is slightly different than the one
on the Housai carburetor and are not interchangeable "out of the box".
In the attached photo, the M14 carburetor diaphragm is on the left. I'm
sure by using a proper size leather punch and overlaying the diaphragms,
one could punch out the additional holes in the Chinese diaphragm and
adapt it to the M14 carburetor.

Didier,
A couple of Answers. West London Aero Club has the diaphragms, air
refill
adapter, and prop seal kits. The URL is
http://www.wlacrussianeng.co.uk
As for your brake issues, is this occurring after hard braking or
a long
taxi with frequent application of the brakes. If so you are
experiencing
brake fade due to the drums/shoes heating up. You can also have a
felt seal
on the wheel bearing leaking grease into the drum causing brake
failure.
Glazed brake pads will cause weak braking also. Brakes pulling to
one side
and being weak can mean grease on the shoes, glazed shoes, and
leaking brake
line off the top of my head.

these questions will probably find an answer with Deniss, but any
help is
very welcome.
1)I am looking for the "carburator diaphragm". Where can I find
one or two
and is it a part difficult to replace?
2)Do you know if it is possible to add a Tee for inflating both
the main
system and the emergency system? (I saw that in a 52)
3)Deniss I forgot to whom shall I ask for the prop seal kit???
could you
please have the kindness to tell me who??
4)I have fluctuations in my gauges indications. It seems that it
could come
from the floatters. Do you know if it is possible ti find these
foam
floatters or to repair it or to find the gauges (picture are

Thanks so much to all for any hints and tips.

Deniss, Doug,
what you are both saying goes in the same way. I will have a look and seeif
it can be overhauled. I did a complete overhaul of the uplock cylinders both
on my 18T and 52. Three on six did look really really bad and needed a
complete overhaul.
I will asap have a look on the valves QS1 and 2.
Doug I will contact you in private for a quote.
Still there is a remaining question concerning the foam floater of the fuel
gauge....any idea??
Thanks very much to all and have a great day

Didier,
I have never seen a foam fuel sender float "water-logged" or more correctly
"fuel-logged". This was a problem in the early metal floats, but not the
closed cell foam units. I would suspect the windings in the sender before
I suspected the float. I carry both the senders and the floats in stock if
you need them.
All orders off line please.

Gang,
Well I have, Johns Yak 18T had one. If you submerged it in fuel it sank
to the bottom or about half way. Don't know if this was something in the
Russian fuel or what but once replaced the gauge worked normally. So pre
tty easy to check, just take it out , off the arm and drop it in fuel. Jus
t don't let it sit around and dry out before you test it.

Didier,
It could be one of maybe 4 things:
You are not getting the proper amount of air volume or pressure out of the
QS-1valve, in "CJ speak" this is the valve which reduces the amount of ai
r pressure and sends it on to the QS2 which is responsible for breaking,
both differential and straight ahead.
The QS2 has bad seals or is full of corrosion. Again, QS-1 and QS-2 are
CJ6 P/N's, but I am pretty sire that the inner workings all utilize the
same parts.
Your brake pads or drums are very badly worn. (again same as CJ6)
You have a leak in BOTH of your brake bladders, which is highly unlikely.
(also same as CJ6)
Unless you have recently replaced/overhauled this portion of your air syst
em my guess would be that your QS-1 and QS-2 valves are in need of replace
ment or overhaul. Knowing that the 52 does not have a water filter in the
air system I suspect that you will find that the internal parts are prett
y nasty.
I carry both the QS-1 and QS-2 overhaul kits as well as the water filter
mod in inventory, please contact me off list to order.

Subject: | Re: strange behavior of braking system |
Hello,
once again, there is most likely no problem with the resistor windings, as this
can be checked by moving the float lever by hand, when you take out the sender
unit from the wing tank and check the readings in the cockpit. You will find
"full" when the lever is up and "empty" when you drop the lever. And at intermediate
positions of the lever you will have corresponding readings in the cockpit.
Of course it is not a bad idea to open the sender unit cover and clean the
windings in the area where the contact finger moves.
The foam float definitely shrinks or soaks at the same time in fuel. I dont know
if that is true for avgas use only, but I found the same problem on our 18T
after some years with mainly auto fuel use. The Yak was John Scarboroughs from
Lincolnshire.
One temporary repair is to add a very light spring to the lever to compensate the
loss of lift following shrinkage/soaking of the float.
kind regards
Vic

Hello Didier,
in the West London Aero Club inventory the diaphragm is still listed, I had one
from them one or two years ago. The exchange rate from Pounds to Euro is great
and you may save a lot for shipping from UK if they still have the part on stock,
of course.
best regards
Vic

Vic,
sounds interesting. I definitely will try to change the foam and clean the sensor
before changing all the parts.
And I runned the check you are describing (moving the float outside the tank) and
the sensor seems to works just fine.
thanks very much for your input
kind regards

TGB in Bunnutopia,
I wonder if funky Russian auto fuel is the culprit? I have never seen this
happen (yet) in CJ floats.
Is the CJ sender and float interchangeable with the 18T?

You know Doug I think it was, kinda different shape and I think a differen
t color as well but I know we didn't have a Yak float laying around! So ye
p I think it was a CJ float. It was weird but you could feel the Yak flo
at was heavier and then it sank in the fuel. It was just in from Russia
so it had to be running on Russia vodka for some time!

Didier,
I have never seen a foam fuel sender float "water-logged" or more correctl

Didier,
It could be one of maybe 4 things:
Always Yakin,
