I have had great success with paint matching from the local DuPont paint
dealer. Our DuPont store will send a person to the hangar with their
digital "camera" and "shoot" the paint colors needed which then
digitizes and stores the paint colors. From the data stored in the
camera they are able to match the paint. I was having great difficulty
with the local paint supplier trying to hand mix paints to match, which
they never seem to do unless there is a paint chip that is an exact
match to what's on the airplane.

Kelley- my bird was also done in an Imron 5000 by Air Spectrum at
Quincy, Illinois by a guy named Rodney who also paints L-39's from
AirUSA at the same airport. Give him a call at 217-885-3455. He may be
able to help you.

I have a paint job on my CJ that was = painted by BRC Aviation
in Ohio. I was told its called a Wolfen paint job. = The log
book states it was painted in Imron 5000/6000 and the formula's are on
= file at BRC. BRC is now out of business. Does anyone else
have this = paint job or knows how to find the paint formula's?

Richard:
There was no intent on my part to include or exclude anyone as the list was not
meant to be exhaustive. That is why I put "I could go on, and on..." as the
list could go on and on and I certainly do not know every supplier of thing that
are made for or could be used on our aircraft. The point was to support those
that support our community.
People like you, Doug Sapp, Brian Lloyd, Dennis Savareese, Mark Bitterlich, Walt
Lannon, Craig Payne, AND MANY OTHERS freely give their advice and expertise
to us who ask and we all GREATLY APPRECIATE it. So, it should be you all who
we go to when we want to spend money on stuff (yes, I do know that not all listed
above are owners of businesses that have stuff to keep us in the air!). That
was the point.
I have long thought the RPA website should be the repository for information on
knowledgeable mechanics, parts suppliers, importers, aircraft restorers, etc,
etc who focus in Yaks, CJs, L-39s, L-29s, etc, etc. Wouldn't it be nice if the
RPA did that AND made sure the vendors were legit. They could list vendors
by category (parts, mechanics, engines, etc) and provide contact info and a link
to the website.
I am sorry if I missed or offended anybody by not listing their name above or in
the prior note.
Craig
