Hi all
I'm not sure Bob is a Brit - as far as I know he is South African. The accident
happened in Bisho, Eastern Cape, South Africa. Bob is one of the characters of
local aviation, a very experienced aerobatic pilot and instructor.
One of the knobs on the gill control levers went walkabout several months back,
and was replacd by the owner. Despite a search of the aircraft the missing one
was not found - until now.
We're all pleased that the outcome was not a fatal accident - it was very close.
It's been a very bad week for aviation here - airline over-run, a light aircraft
over-run, and an Extra down on Sunday with two fatalities.
Blue skies
Mike

Recently found out about the technique of hollowing out the existing light bulb
and then using the core as receptacle for American bulb. Don't know the bulb
size though???

If you are speaking of the Yak 52 bulbs, you can use a #327 28 volt
bulb. However, the Osram 3899 is a direct replacement for the original
Russian bulbs (gear and flaps).

Mark,
I have been told that the oil transfer tube is different J9-G1 to V530 prop
(it's longer I think), so I don't think I can help. No idea as to the
filter. I have them by the gross for the stock Russian or Chinese
air compressor, but none like you describe. Sorry.

The Oil supply tubes DO NOT interchange because they are different lengths. The
Huosai prop is mounted over a splined shaft that protrudes into the propeller
housing, thus it is fairly short. The V530 prop mounts to a flange and needs
a rather long oil supply tube to run the depth of the hub.
Threads are the same as well of diameters but that is about it.
