Yes it's that time again, the Heartland of Winter. No gloating about fine Florida weather this year, it has been cold for a week, from freezing in the morning to mid 50's during the day. Today will be "warm" with temps in the low 60's. So what do yo Yankee's do to keep the cockpit warm, especially the rear? I fly other airplanes that have better heat than mine. Our hangers are not heated down here but I still have to shovel deep piles of sunshine away from the hanger door :) Craig Payne

Secunt..Don't fly airplanes with back seats so u don't have to wurry about tha cold in tha trunk. Third...Tha YAK-50 is a very woarm airplane in tha winter cause of the oil cooler bein' right under the chin an it vents nicely into the cockpit. Doc Kemp aka a REBEL

Gotta man-up,Craig! :) You can also weather strip the canopy and cover the holes in the floor at the base of the back seat, but it'll still be drafty. My wife refuses to fly with me after October even here in temperate San Francisco. Now imagine what it's like for our brethen in the northern states, or for that matter, an instructor pilot in China. I've never fathomed why the Chinese failed to heat the airplane. Did anybody ask Bushi when he was here? ...Blitz Sent from my iPhone On Jan 7, 2010, at 6:49 AM, "Roger Kemp M.D." <viperdoc@mindspring.com> wrote: > > > > > So what do yo Yankee's do to keep the cockpit warm, especially the > rear." > Craig Payne > > Fust..fo' a Soouthern bo".
