For a few bucks less and a lot closer I might suggest the Imperial Swan hotel. On Florida Ave, just south of the Polk parkway and a few miles east of the airport (go East on Drane Field rd). Currently, SNF week is available for $92/night plus taxes. Saturday we took out the "Big Iron" -- Mi-24D Hind and MiG-23UB Flogger -- and took them for a walk. Also brought out some of the L-39s and Mi-2 heli copters. http://blog.cwam.org/2010/01/soviet-big-iron-saturday.html A quick trip to the blog is worth it just for the fireball that the Mi-24D makes on start! I got to taxi the MiG for a short bit including a run-up to 90% power (nowh ere near afterburner). Starts and taxis very=2C very easy... any of y'all could do it no problem if you have any experience in Red Star aircraft. The short video around the taxiways worked out to be 100 liters of gas. ou ch. Half of that was the run-up. A former Russian AF Major just showed up the other day. Lots of experience in MiG-21=2C MiG-23 and MiG-29. Super=2C super nice guy. And a big help since the only really good Flogger POH I have is in Russian. :-) Jon ________________________________ Message 10 ____________________________________ Time: 07:51:25 PM PST US From: "Roger Kemp M.D." Subject: RE: Yak-List: Re: GLOC how not to do the AGSM Doc, The guy flying the Hornet was killed doing a rejoin during a show a few years back.
