This maybe a little premature but where would I get a piston and rings for the M-14P? Doing a compression check today I've found my #9 cylinder well below the 10% of the average of the other cylinder. I plan to check the oil filter for excessive metal. Right now I just have the low compression on the gage and lots of noise coming out the breather. Last year I did a ring job on the same cylinder which fixed it back than, but I'm back in the same spot again. If I'm lucky tomorrow and the filter doesn't show anything major, I'm figuring I have a piston with worn lands. Jim "Pappy" Goolsby Pappy......check your valve clearance on the intake side, bet you have too little clearance. Marc

Pappy......check your valve clearance on the intake side, bet you have too little clearance. Marc Oh dear! To late to do that. I've already taken the cylinder off and I'm looking for rings. I don't know why I didn't think of checking that firs t. Maybe next time I'll do the valve clearance checks before doing the compre ssion check. Thanks Pappy -----Original Message----- From: Marcus Bates <mlbjr@earthlink.net> Sent: Sun, Feb 21, 2010 5:40 pm Subject: Re: Yak-List: Piston and rings? ----- Original Message ----- From: cjpilot710@aol.com Sent: Saturday, February 20, 2010 7:03 PM Subject: Yak-List: Piston and rings? Pappy,=0AChecking the valve clearances first is always a good idea . =0ATha t said , I think you are on the right track .=0ALeaking intake valves are u sually heard through the intake side .
