Not fishing, just being realistic as there will never be a single meet given the wide distribution of our locations. I expect to run the same course as everyone else. It's not just side x side speed. Skill in sharp pilotage and pylon turning can shave seconds off a short 12NM course anyway. This could be a fun thing that fills in some open holes in the schedule and any pilot can do it. Formation rating not required. Craig Payne

All, To answer the questions about the kit.... We use 8.5mm wire that has 40-50 ohms resistance on a 12" wire, which is the lowest resistance of any helically wound wire. It also has extremely effective EMI choke. We have not found a wire better than this for this application. Other set ups that we are familiar with have caused ignition problems. As previously mentioned, the iridium plugs are actually cheap. The ones we use have the correct reach for optimal combustion. The kits include wires precut to length (~70' total) with the wires installed into the mag caps on one end and boots on the other end, machined wire bracket to neatly close off magneto and keep moisture/oil out, clamps for mounting, a full set of spark plugs, and installation instructions. It is designed to be "plug and play," pardon the pun. Hope this helps... Happy Flying! Barry -------- Barry Hancock Worldwide Warbirds, Inc. We don't have an adapter tool, but we do have machined stainless steel adapters that convert your struts over to Schrader valves. Please contact me off list for pricing and pics. They are a simple screw in replacement and eliminate the possibility of loosing/breaking an external adapter tool. Happy Flying! Barry -------- Barry Hancock Worldwide Warbirds, Inc. G'Day Barry, We have installed a icom radio in our 18T. No inteference from ignition or any other electral source. Does your conversion present any inteference problems? Thanks and cheers, Chris. ----- Original Message ----- From: "barryhancock" <bhancock@worldwidewarbirds.com> Sent: Wednesday, April 07, 2010 1:27 AM Subject: Yak-List: Re: Ignition Harness Kit > <bhancock@worldwidewarbirds.com> > > All, > > To answer the questions about the kit.... > > We use 8.5mm wire that has 40-50 ohms resistance on a 12" wire, which is > the lowest resistance of any helically wound wire. To: yak-list@matronics.com Date: Monday, April 5, 2010, 1:27 PM Remove the prop dome and piston assembly. If there is oil inside the hub, the inner seal on the piston is bad (possibly incorrectly installed too) OR the seal behind the oil tube is bad or the tube is not fully tightened. Most likely it's the inner seal on the piston if there is oil pooling inside the hub. If the piston outer seal is leaking, there will be oil on the inside of the "skull cap" dome. As Mark says, check the front seal on the nose case to see if there is evidence of oil around the prop hub/flange shaft. If so... Depends on exactly what you mean by hub seals. The ones on the prop blades are there to keep the grease in. If there is OIL coming out of THOSE prop blade flanges, it is not a bad Hub Blade seal that is the problem. It's one of the OTHER ones. If we are talking OIL, there are usually three areas of concern. 1. The large and small o'ring seals for the hub piston (you take the front hub cover off to get at these) 2. The oil control tube crush washer. This is the PIPE that screws into the front of the engine that the oil goes through to get to the hub and control the prop. This has a crush washer on the front that leaks and ends up coming out the prop area. 3. The shaft seal on the reduction gearbox...that is NOT easy to change, but does not usually go bad unless you're doing serious acro. You're going to have to determine exactly where the oil is coming from. That has been my experience... Others better versed probably have more accurate advice. I am by no means a prop expert.
