Thanks for all the input guy's. I have the two 85 litre tanks. All the work
is being carried out by a qualified aircraft engineer who already commente
d on the need for a jig. He is very experienced and his his quality of work
is outstanding to say the least. We were just hoping for a bit of guidance
in the way of instructions as I had no reply from the Lithuanian Yak facto
ries.

Hi Mark
The UK politicians are spouting more hot air than the unpronounceable
Eyjafjallokull volcano............
The volcano we can trust............
Good luck with the T6 stuff...... And getting back.

Subject: Yak-List: T6 training in the DC area
Hi fellow yakkers. I am a BA pilot stranded in Washington by the ash cloud.
Unless the politicians make some decisions, I'm likely to be here until the
end of the week.
I would like to use my time here usefully, and to that end would like to do
some refresher flying on a T6. I hope to fly a friend's YAK 11 sometime
later this summer, and would like to do some air and pattern work on a T6 to
get used to the increased weight and inertia, having largely flown Yak50s
for the last 10 years.
To this end, is anyone aware of a T6 operation in the DC/Baltimore/Philly
area that I could hire with a CFI for some training?
Thanks guys.

Dennis Savarese sells the 52 bladders. He is on the list. Contact him with
the bay's measurements. But before doing that contact him for all he would
need before pulling a can.

Unfortunately Doc, the Yak 52 fuel bladders will not fit the 18T, nor will
the CJ6 bladders. They can definitely be fabricated though. It would
require an 18T to take all the measurements etc. and then to install the
initial prototype bladders just like we did for the Yak 52 bladders.

Has anyone looked at the YAK-52 wing bladders as a replacement for the cans
in the 18T's wing? I do not know much about the 18T fuel system so that is
why I ask the question. There is a great article by Gil Hayes in the Fall
RPA magazine on installing the fuel bladders in the YAK-52. Are the bays in
the 18T the same size? If so, then the RU design bureau has signed off on
the instillation of bladders in the 52 for EU use. Why would that not work
for the 18T?

It is not a simple job!
You have the choice of a single 180 litre tank each side which is not great
from the position of quantity measure ment.
The better solution is a separate 85 litre tank in each wing with a separate
filler and a non-return valve between the two.
BUT either means that you have to compromise the strength of the wing and
this strength has to be replaced.
Also, all has to be done in a proper wing-jig to keep the wing straight. So
not a job to be done at home!!
