Mark, I often found that my hud video was of limited usefulness when debriefing ACM. Now a tail mounted camera would be useful in recreating the dynamics of most of my engagements! Forward cameras would rarely be of use to me, except when I fight those trained by the U.S. Air Force (Yes, JJ this means you!!!!) My CJ has the same amount if not more. The 737-300s that I fly routinely have way more. Ever been up close to a B-52? Just after of the trailing edge of the wing on the fuselage will make you sea sick if you run your hands over it. http://www.flyingsquadron.com/forums/index.php?/topic/16804-aircraft-fatigue-pictures-searching-for-b-52-pic/ Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=295857#295857

Subject: Owners of Yak-18T a/c on the Hungarian register
    From: "psb777" <matronics.com@beardsell.com>
I'm interested in making contact with owners of HA-registered Yak-18T a/c to learn about their experiences with servicing and regulation. Most 18T's hereabouts are on the Hungarian register but one or two are Lithuanian and still some can be found RA registered (but not in the UK). The Hungarian CAA web site is very poor (or at least the English bits of it are) and so I find it difficult to work out exactly what the rules are. I make best guesses and continue best I can but I would rather know. Examples: In some countries you can carry two children on one seat under one seatbelt if they are less than a given total weight. Is that true for Hungary? If so, what's the weight? Is the -18T a 4 or 5 seater on the HA register? Is it really true you can't be name-on-register unless you're Hungarian and that you need a nominee? How are engine hours recorded? The Russian way (i.e. include 20% of ground time) or is it flying time only? Does a Hungarian inspector really need to come see the plane to issue a AWC each year or can you just post the paperwork? Is a test flight necessary for the re-issue of a AWC? Is there absolutely no leeway on the date when the AWC becomes due? In NZ (e.g.) an engineer can grant an extension without reference to the CAA. What about Hungary? Similarly for a reposition flight purely for the purpose of maintenance - do I really need to apply to the HA CAA or can an engineer authorise same? What are the ICAO - Hungarian rule differences? Does everyone agree the W&B info is unusable (for a pilot to use before a flight)? Is it really easier on the Lithuanian register? Now, I am not interested in the answers to *only* these questions, but I think it would be interesting to swap knowledge on all of this. Here or elsewhere. I just need the some 18T owners to come out of the woodwork so as to swap stories and tips. -------- Paul Beardsell HA-YAB http://beardsell.com/flying/ha-yab Yak-18T http://beardsell.com/flying/yak18t Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=295865#295865

Here are pics of the install I also have a helmet cam. CONS: it looks where I look so always changing view. It needs a recording device attached to it like a camcorder. PROS: cheap, I bought used for $150. It can be used in different planes. I like the look of the vholdr from McGirt. It has the recording device integrated in. 3 cameras All can be adjusted to different views A 4th camera is on the front screen just to the left of the wet compass. Normally aimed to the left wing tip. Hard drive with input cable on left side. Can be removed and downloaded on computer. Multiplex behind pilot. All 4 cameras can be shown on same screen. Or just 1, or PIP, etc.

Hi Pete-- What you're seeing is a bit of skin compression caused by riveting at fuselage frames. Looks pretty typical to me. You've also got rivet dimples or countersinks at the frames and stringers and spot welds. Most CJ's are riveted, but some had spot welding like yours. Saves weight and labor but is prone to intergranular corrosion (see http://en.wikipedia org/wiki/Intergranular_corrosion) at the welds and shows up as swelling around the welds, kind of like what you're seeing at the rivet heads, but much more severe. I've seen a couple of welded CJ's that were pretty ugly.. So, I'd get in there and take a good look and do a little anti-corrosion proofing. Doesn't look bent to me, but watch out for the aluminum worm. Jerry Painter Wild Blue Aviation 425-876-0865 JP@FlyWBA.com www.FlyWBA.com

My plane is at White Waltham, it has passed it's annual, it's ready to fly, but it can't be flown. Why is that? Good question. And that is what has prompted this topic here. Hope to see you Saturday, if I am not too annoyed to be there. tigeryak18t wrote: > Paul > > We Will discuss this mater in White Waltham this weekend if you are > there. > But it seems to me That the russian register is the easyer. > Let us talk this weekend. > > Didier Blouzard > +33 6 2424 3672 > > Le 27 avr. 2010 18:50, "psb777" a > crit : > > > > > > > > I'm interested in making contact with owners of HA-registered > > Yak-18T a/c to learn about their experiences with servicing and > > regulation. Looks great. Tell me more about the mount - that looks like it is different than the camera. And it stays put in the windstream? And with pos / neg G's? I like it alot. I just would not want to lose it. I don't think I'd take my GPS mount and put it out there :) Herb On Apr 27, 2010, at 1:10 PM, David McGirt wrote: > Some pictures of the camera I am using.. > > http://picasaweb.google.com/dmcgirt/021509TWHDCameraPIcs# > > > > From: owner-yak-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-yak-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of Terry Calloway > Sent: Tuesday, April 27, 2010 7:43 AM > To: yak-list@matronics.com > Subject: Re: Yak-List: Cockpit mounted video cameras > > I have both Lipstick cameras feeding into mux then tapedeck and the one listed below that McGirt has. Gents: I have just installed a 4 camera system from Tim Ennis at _www.motocam360.com_ (http://www.motocam360.com) system on my Yak 52. I installed one camera on each of the endplates at the end of each wing and one slot camera on the hand hold on the tail and one on the top of the vertical stab. I have experienced some "teething pains" but overall I am pleased with the initial results. The system includes a custom built 4" monitor in the cockpit so I can turn the system on/off or change the primary view while in flight or display all 4 cameras on one split screen. The system allows me to record all music input formats including xm or ipod with ATC or intercom conversation too. The GPS interface gives me lat/lon, speed and altitude as an overlay on the video. Check out the website and tell Tim I sent you. Tim Stevens In a message dated 4/27/2010 3:58:20 P.M. I'm not looking for anything to make professional videos with, just something to record formation/extended trail/maybe a little ACM then analyze under the influence of cold beverages afterward. An audio input would be nice but not a necessity. Durability, ease of operation in the cockpit and size/weight are the most important things I'm looking for. I have the contour 1080P and it does a great job picture wise...BUT...there is no way to set up a remotely operated start. It is a clumsy sliding switch mounted on the camera top. There is also no way to put in an audio feed from your comm system Keith McKinley -------- Keith McKinley 700HS KFIT Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=295974#295974
