aircraRe: FSDO changing operating limitations on Living on the border of two FSDO's I've seen differences between them. Maybe 2 years ago I had to register a YAK with the Philadelphia FSDO. They didn't care what I had from the former owner, they gave me a their own version of the Operating Limitations, which were pretty much the same form as the Wright brothers example on the website. (Someone at the FAA had a sense of humor). This group didn't want to change a thing. They also didn't have the resources to inspect the plane so I went to find a DAR. All of the DARs seemed knowledgeable on homebuilt but none had experience with Exhibition class aircraft. Apparently this meant they all had their own interpretation of the rules for exhibition. I felt like I was a kid playing the game of if Mom says no, ask Dad, then ask another mom and another and another. Well as luck would have it, one of the DARs told me the aircraft couldn't be reinspected but that the FAA had to sign off on the last inspection, Odd as it sounded, by the end of the phone call, he agreed to call the FAA folks, who I was dealing with and share this invaluable knowledge with them. When I called a few days later, they told me everything was fine and to come in to pick up my paperwork. Strange story: yes, but it shows the magnitude of differences in interpretation of the regs and the value of finding the right person. Yes, but from what I am learning... That is against the law, and you have recourse. It's not an easy task, but one I am starting to learn right now. From: "Shawn J Burwell" <Epistaxis1@aol.com>
I would like to know if anyone has a wiring schematic for installation of the B/C alt. in the yak 55? In addition to removing the coil and gen hi/lo rely which items can be removed from the buss bar box, as well as the use of the factory gen failure light circuit on the panel for the new alt. failure light. lastly is it best to bundle the disconnected wires together or wrap each individually to prevent future problems? please email me at Epistaxis1@aol.com.....................Thanks Shawn Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=298975#298975

Shawn, I have never re-wired a 55, but I am guessing it is the same as the 50, 52, Sukes, etc. If it is, than it has the standard generator, and the standard over current device, along with generator regulator, and combined device relay (also referred to as a reverse current relay). There are actually two models of B&C alternators.. Which one are you putting in, the small 10 amp, or the 35 amp model? I do not know what the generator hi/low relay is. Can you tell me what is in the 55? Can anyone tell me if the 55 is wired the same as most Russian designs? If it is, then I can walk you right through this easily. Well... Maybe not easily, but I can do it. I need to post a schematic on this... It keeps coming up. Hello Mark, I`m installing the 35 amp system. I believe that your reverse current relay/over current device may be the same thing as the hi/lo gen relay. gray metal box mounted on cockpit side of the firewall, has two elect. cannon plugs and a red reset button. At this point I`m working on locating a Yak 55 schematic. I do know that the 55 is wired more along the lines of the Yak 50 and not as complex as the 52. If you need any more info just ask and I`ll try to assist . Thanks Shawn Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=298989#298989
