Hi
As you should know, the standard Russian headsets are horrible!
I would like to plug my GA Headsets on the plane but I would prefer to keep
the original Russian plugs on the plane. So I need to build an adaptor to go
from Russian (5 pins)to western audio plugs.
Has someone the picture of the wiring I have to make to achieve this
adaptor?
Are the wires colors standards?
Thank's
Olivier

Sssskippy,
You would best be served to call Termikus in Lithuania for that advise. The
wires are color standard for the Eastern EU..white with Cyrillic letters and
numbers on their ends.

Termikas is on holiday until after 9 August. Although they will most
likely have the wiring conversion information, Termikas typically
installs the standard GA headphone and mike jacks in the airplanes they
overhaul.

Lawndart,
I would recommend getting a conversion that uses the military one
connection plug.
The reason for that is if you decide you need to get out of the plane
in flight(since we carry parachutes), it is much easier.
If you forget to disconnect, the plug will come out on its own, and
not pull you back into the cockpit by your head.

There are pigtail adapters to go from GA jacks to the U-92 military
jack. That way you can use both GA headsets AND the military plug/jack
in the cockpits.

G'Day Oliver,
Congratulations as well Oliver.
I must add to the advise from Dennis.
I would also strongly recommend that you go and get some proper spin
training. And aerobatic training.
When I had my 52 I did a advanced emergency recovery course. This
included recovery from an accelerating inverted spin.
The 52 is a beautiful aircraft and I am sure that you will have as much
fun and enjoyment as we did, but please treat it with respect and get
the appropriate training. As Dennis says, you will benefit from it and
without any doubt enjoy the aircraft a lot more as you will have a
greater understanding of the capabilities of the aircraft.
Good luck and enjoy.
Cheers,
Chris.

Here is a great story about Hal Morley's CJ in today's EAA news:
http://www.airventure.org/news/2010/100729_china.html
There were some really nice Redstar aircraft that showed up at Oshkosh and were
judged. New to judging was Condor's Yak and Hal's CJ. Good PR all around, lots
of folks visiting the 'line.

Subject: | Re: how to wire a russian plug to a GA jack 1/4" plug? |
I'm wondering if people are confusing the four prong Russian affair
with the NATO connector (similar to the helicopter plug).
