What was the source for the production numbers? Do you have a ball park official figure of how many CJ6's were constructed? I am looking at importing a 55M which is currently based in NY, 6B9. Would anyone be able to recommend a good Yak person in the area (or close) who could do a pre-buy? Thanks Andrew ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 09:43:48 PM PST US From: Hal Morley Subject: Re: Yak-List: Hal Morleys CJ Keith, If you would like to see more photos of my CJ Hana Hou! please use the following link to Tyson's gallery: http://tvrphoto.photoshelter.com/invite/g/U0000LkD0mrUWIB4/G00006KH_dPxzS9 Y/6da54c9da1a5 Hana Hou! (One More Time!) is a 2001 airframe that with Doug Sapp's help I bought directly from the factory in 2001. Bill Blackwell mounted a new M14-P on her and put her in flying condition. In 2002 Doug and I flew her up from Deer Valley, AZ to a field near his home in Omak, WA for installation of his wing-root aux tanks. In '03 I brought her to my home field at Aurora State, OR (KUAO). The next few years are not worth talking about and the plane came close to going into the parts bin. Then Doug put me in touch with Tom Elliott, and over the last two plus years Tom completely redid the electrical system, installed the avionics (twice because Blue Mountain folded and we went with Advanced), finished up all the mechanical work including installing a number of new mods, and worked with Gil Hutchinson (our composite and fiberglass secret weapon) on building and installing (sometimes many times) the fuselage mods. Along the way we learned an awful lot about drag and airflow. Like how air can go backward under the cowling, how it can do complete 360s in the engine compartment, how a plastic sewer pipe can be an aviation godsend, how stacks can cost up to 15 knots and how to have the fastest plane going up and the slowest coming down. It is indeed a blessing that we live in a wine growing area! Nanchang makes a great fuselage equipped with some of the best 1958-1960 vintage equipment available today. My goal was to enhance the fuselage where possible and then bring the airplane up to modern standards to the extent possible. With Tom's great work and ideas I think we have come reasonably close to making the goal. There are a number of mods that would be fairly easy to replicate and that make life a bit easier and safer. Others would be more difficult. As we get the performance numbers nailed down I'll finish my write-up on the plane and make it available. Thanks for your comments - I'm glad that Hana Hou! made a good impression.
