Subject: | No "Black Friday" For List Fund Raiser... |
Dear Listers,
Curiously, even though the number of List subscriptions are significantly up this
year, support during this year's Fund Raiser is still substantially behind
last year. There are only a couple more days left in November and the end of
the Fund Raiser is quickly approaching.
I have always preferred a non-commercial List experience as many, many members
have also expressed that they do as well. However, if the yearly fund raiser
cannot generate sufficient funds to keep the bills paid, other sources of income
might be required including some sort of advertising. Please don't let that
happen! Your personal Contribution of $20 or $30 goes a long ways to keeping
the operation a float.
Please make sure your name is on this year's List of Contributors published in
December.
The Contribution site is secure, quick, and easy:

Subject: | Anybody have a copy of a YAK-55 Flying Manual? |
Years ago when I got my YAK-55 the only manual I could find was for the YAK-55M.
I know the M has a shorter wing - I think by about 1.5m altogether - so I am wondering
how that change will effect the a/c's performance. Considering that the
55M is only 8.1m, an additional 1.5m is a 18% increase ... Also I don't know
if the length was cut off at the wing tip, or wing base .... which would also
have a big impact on the chord and flight characteristics ...
Thanks in advance for any replies!

I had thought that the major airframe strengthening Bulletins (59/60/107) o

actual failures, but it is worth noting that there were actually two fatal
accidents of Yak-52 involving total airframe failure (actually the centre s

Gee I agree. Maybe they have the same kind of politicians as us. Somebod

Hell at those prices, a CJ-6a would go for 1 million? I just might give
up mine for that. (Oh dear, I might have started something - - - - - ag

Subject: | Re: CJ rudder Trim |
Keith,
We have done it both ways. It is easier to do it as a replacement of the original
tab, and works just fine. You want to make sure you get enough surface area
so that the trim is effective enough to leave your foot on the floor during
normal climb. Obviously, it matters which engine/prop combo you have.
On my airplane we did the tab integrated into the control surfaces. This is superior
in looks, but is also a lot more involved as you need to modify the structure.
Either way, make sure that the geometry for the servo arm is correct. The other
thing to worry about is the fairing.....it has to accommodate the range of motion
of the servo arm. You don't *have* to have a fairing, but it sure looks
ugly if you don't. I have some pics that I'll dig up and post....

Gee, fellows....what are we not understanding about the meaning of the
word "new"? Do you have any idea what a "new" Cirrus SR-22 costs? Are
we forgetting that virtually all of the Yak 52's and 50's of which we
all are so fond were bought at scrap prices out of a system that was
essentially in collapse? There is no rational ground for a comparison
of the cost of those airplanes and new examples of the same kind of
airplane.
