Following the current discussion here, just a few facts about the current case
I described: there was No filter collapse or clogging, verified by dissection.
An alternate relief valve/circuit probably could have relieved the instantaneous
pressure spike. Then again, a heated hanger solves a lot more problems than
oil; such as frozen slush in the brakes, etc.
The system I use has been in service since the mid-90's on dozens of CJ's. However,
cold weather operations are a challenge for any piston aircraft in my experience.

Pre heating the Lithuanian way with a carbon "footprint" the size of Texas !
The mercury read minus 15C on the day.
Makes recent events in the Gulf look almost environmentally friendly.

Do have the names/numbers of the dorval TC people. For validation of foreign flight

Lovely Hangar. As I recall there are some of the "children's" gliders in
that hangar. It was a most interesting system of teaching very young
children to fly. As I recall there was a cable system that was motorized and
went around the field. The small gliders were tethered to the cable and
allowed the young pilots to fly a few feet above the ground.

It is... but just to be clear, there are brakes that are actuated by the
brake lever (pneumatically).

Gang,
E-Z Heat makes a kit for the Yak-CJ that works supurbly...goes with the airplane,
too! Takes about 2 hours to install. Under $500 even if you pay for the labor
to install it. Plug it in when you are done flying and the engine stays all
toasty warm until the next flight.
FWIW,
Barry

Thanks for the good wishes, Didier. However we have a great FAA office
here and the only interest they would take in it would be as aviators,
so we count ourselves as lucky already.

Subject: | ADC Low Oil Pressure Switch |
I'm installing an ADC "flat" oil filter on my Housai. I am considering adding an
oil pressure warning light, but ADC no longer offers that kit. What's needed
is a Honeywell "hobbs" pressure switch that's NC instead of the usual NO switch
that activates a hobbs meter. They sell them in dozens of different pressure
ranges. I was thinking of getting one that switches on below about 50 PSI.
That would give some low pressure warning without nuisance warnings, but would
be set off by lower idle pressure on the ground. If you set it to 20 PSI or
so (below lowest idle pressure) it won't give much warning at cruise power if
the pressure is dropping. Anybody have this installed and have a part number or
know at what pressure it should activate the switch?

Indeed, you are lucky for that.
I was of course joking and my joke was concerning our own EASA and DGAC. It
seems to us that their only interest is in paperworks without any knowledge
about pilots needs and concerns.
That's the reason why a russian register seems to us a huge freedom. Plus we
have the luck to have very skilled russian mechanics and inspectors around
us and that is a big help.
Concerning the heating devices, I suppose that they don't have to be any
certification for these.
Best whishes for you and plenty of hours up there in the air and in our Yak
or cousins
Didier : http://www.wonder-wings.fr
So it was more like some self joke.

Subject: | Re: Oil cooler pre-heater |
I use it and it works dreat. I would say more than 4 hours to install if you
want to make it well. Take care to install it under the level of oil.
Service is great, after sales is great and people are really nice.
Thanks to Todd the boss.
I recommand.
Cheers
Didier

Subject: | CJ6 gear collapse in Ontario |
last year there was an ugly gear
failure in Ontario/Canada.
The pilot posted some pictures on his
website, looks quite scary.

Unfortunately I have no information
how this happened, any ideas?
cheers
