Subject: Yak-18T light bulb replacement LED? Strobes?
    From: "psb777" <matronics.com@beardsell.com>
I am trying to buy replacement bulbs for my 18T. In particular I am frustrated at the beacon bulb blowing at least every 50 hours. [I am aware I should also be investigating possible excessive vibration.] Ideally I would like direct LED replacements, and perhaps ones which are strobes with built-in flasher electronics. I am sure I can buy what I need at several $hundred but I reckon I can do much cheaper browsing the Internet. But I do not know what to buy? What is the specification of the bulb socket/fittings? I see another post here where we're told CJ6 bulbs have the "1142" bayonet. I can buy bright LED 1142 bulbs fairly cheaply. Is that what I want for the nav and beacon bulbs on an 18T? And what about the lights on the undercarriage? And the landing light? Thanks, Paul. -------- Paul Beardsell HA-YAB http://beardsell.com/flying/ha-yab Yak-18T http://beardsell.com/flying/yak18t Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=336015#336015

Go to "superbrightleds.com". For the CJ6 indicator lights which are a Mazda 313 equiv. you would use their BA9S series. I don't know if the 18T is the same but suspect it is. You=99ll need to overhaul the compressor. That is the reason it keeps popping the shear pins. Been there done that. Bear From: owner-yak-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-yak-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of Nigel Willson Sent: Monday, April 04, 2011 5:49 PM Subject: Yak-List: Yak52: Compressor - and replacement U/G bulbs Thought I'd call on the power of the list. Two separate enquiries re Yak52. 1. Have had several compressor failures in the last two years - shear pins (rivets) sheared in each case. Replaced each time with correct spec replacements. Compressor itself appears to be fine each time, goes a few hours before the next failure - although never after the same number of hours. Any ideas any one? Anything else to check (apart from replacing the compressor). 2. I've heard that U/C bulbs can be sourced from someone like LUCAS - and all that is required is for the lugs to be filed off. Does anyone know the part number for the official replacement from such a source or similar? Thanks Nigel ~ _____
