You are free to do that...and it certainly would not be the first time.
Lets review my post line by line:
"Was the fuel problem the cause of the inflight fire"
Asked a question..did not make a statement. Some here have spoken to
people close to the airplane and have indicated there was a known issue
with the fuel system. Could have been a leak, a failed pump, ect..hence
why I asked the question.
"why were there pax on board with a known maintenance deficiency"
As indicated in a previous post, there was a known maintenance issue
that required the airplane to be ferried for mx. I am curious as to why
pax would be on board with a writeup...especially for fuel. Again, asked
a question, did not make a statement.
"A huge loss"
Do you disagree with this point?
"and it appears at first glance, one that might have been preventable."
Note the bold. From what I have read here, in the media (taken with due
caution) and from other sources, there was an outstanding mx issue of
some sort. I hope that the final cause of the accident does not point to
that. What the crew did was amazing and their efforts to salvage the
airplane and her occupants are certainly nothing short of amazing.
Having flown and crewed a B-17, I under these airplanes are "fragile"
and do not have the safety systems we have today. These airplanes were
not built to last much past the war. It is a testament to Boeing, and
the crews and volunteers who fly and maintain them, that they have
survived to be enjoyed by millions but also stand as a reminder of the
men who took them to war, many that I have met and the pleasure to fly.
It is a massive loss to the community and to anyone who loves these
memorials as I do. I truly hope this was simply an unfortunate failure
of a system unknown to the crew until it revealed itself in flight.

Mark,
I am just astounded at your vicious attack on Tom Johnson.
I have known Tom for more than ten years now and have always found him to
be a voice of reason. He has always provided great service on several insurance
policies that I have/had with him. He is always good company and is one of
the absolutely most knowledgeable Yak and M-14P enthusiasts in the country....plus,
he's a damn good stick and mechanic.
As I said, I am astounded at your attack on one of the most valuable people

After my meter is reset, all three needles read 1.2. Is that correct & is
there a way to adjust it to zero? The back of my meter reads "Made in New
York" by a watch company.

I did not write this.
I do not know what person is trying to make me look like this, but I did NOT WRITE
THIS.
I have had insurance with Tom Johnson for years and he never did me any wrong that
I am aware of.
He is not an A__hole and he is a good professional insurance agent that I would
not hesitate to use again.
This is not the first time I have seen this kind of thing done forging an email
address, but it is the first time I have seen it done on the YAK list.
TOM! THIS DID NOT COME FROM ME. ANYONE that wants a GOOD REFERENCE for TOM JOHNSON
is WELCOME to write me and I will give it.
And excuse my language, but if I ever am able to find out what freaking TERD wrote
the below message (and yes I know how you did it), I will beat you to within
a inch of your life.
This is really low.
Mark Bitterlich.

Excuse me... but if someone on this YAK LIST is so mad at me that they
feel they have to log onto a mail server and emulate my email address to
make me look bad... then just come out and say so.
Mr. Baker, you have every right to be "astounded" at this attack. I am
astounded as well. In fact... enough is enough.
Again. Let me say this:
I have no issues what-so-ever with Mr. Johnson. I have had insurance
with Tom Johnson for about 10 years without complaint.
I highly recommend him to anyone who is interested in a reliable and
honest insurance agent.
I do not give recommendations lightly.
And at this point, I have to admit I am so angry that I am turning off
the freaking computer.

For whoever reads the YAK LIST.... I've enjoyed this list for a number
of years now and have gotten a lot out of it. During that time I have
had some heated arguments over various issues, and sometimes I have been
right, and sometimes I have been wrong. That said, I never thought I
made anyone angry enough to pull the kind of stunt that I just read.
To that end, if anyone needs to speak with me concerning issues they
think I can help them with, please write from now on to:

To those that don't have a lot of knowledge about how email works:
"Spoofing" a person's email address is fairly simple. It is also very
hard to defend against when using List Servers.
SO! If you see any more slanderous comments coming from this email
address... please understand that they did not come from me, as I will
not be posting anything more to the YAK LIST for the foreseeable future.
Best Regards,

Mark I hope you're not going to withdraw from the Yak list over this, It's a
pity that in today's world we have people that get some type of thrill in
causing grief to others.
I believe that people that subscribe to the yak list would have read that
post and your reply and
Worked it out very quickly that it was someone with nothing better to do.
Everyone should now ignore it and move on.

Paul;
That would be one of the older 3 1/8" G meters. Made by the Jaeger Watch Co..
An excellent instrument.
It has a lock control knob at the rear which should be engaged when the instrument
is being handled or stored. Must be unlocked after installation. Make sure
it is in the unlocked position for checking and operation.
All three hands should read "1".

After my meter is reset, all three needles read 1.2. Is that correct & is there
a way to adjust it to zero? The back of my meter reads "Made in New York"
by a watch company.

A guess...one should read the negative G, one the instant positive
G, and
one the total G. At least that is the way I've seen some of the three
needle
G meters I've run across. The last needle is like a totalizer needle
for the
flight.

For whoever reads the YAK LIST.... I've enjoyed this list for a number of

Right. Detonation will not move the electrodes. Only impact will do that.
The visibile sign of detonation is having the surface of the piston wiped
clean of all deposits. If the crown of the piston is clean, bright, and
shiny, you have detonation. Severe detonation will melt a hole in the piston
and may melt plug electrodes.
The pictures of the plugs are consistent with a plug that has been dropped
on its electrode.

Subject: | Project for sale |
It has been quite some time since I have been on this list. I am finally
giving up on getting my project done and would like to sell it.
The airframe is a 1967 CJ6A. All airframe work is done. Any damaged skins
have been replaced. Doug Sapp's center-wing-section aux fuel tanks are
installed giving an additional 36 gallons of fuel. The pneumatic system is
mostly done. All the actuators are rebuilt. The chinese electrical system
has been removed and disposed of. I still have most of the instruments and
electrical components but never planned to put them back in the aircraft.
So the aircraft needs:
- electrical system
- instruments
- avionics
- glass
- paint
- control surface recovering
So this is a fantastic starting point for someone wanting to build a
better-than-average CJ6A. I originally purchased the aircraft from Jim Selby
for $47,000 in 1999 or 2000. It was one of the first batch he brought in. I
have substantial work and cost into it so far. I would like to get $35,000
for it but will consider all offers.
I also have a Huosai engine and prop that belong to Dennis Nickson. Dennis
would like $7500 for the engine and $1250 for the prop. There is also a set
of Ray Allen servos for three-axis electric trim. I would like to get $600
for the servos and associated hardware.
The fuselage is in the workshop of Randy Thorne in Ione, CA. The wings and
most of the smaller components are in my hangar in Cameron Park, CA. You can
reach me at the numbers below. (I am not currently in Dominica so don't use
that number please.)
