    If I recall on neither a Housai or M14 does oil lubricate the generator splines or bearings. They are on their own. But I thought there was some difference in the oil seal on a Housai vs an M14? Blackwell would know for sure. As for flashing the generator, first you get up high on the wing and the you gotta loosen your...     In order to "flash the field" you momentarily connect the field terminal on the generator to the positive lead on the battery. (Assuming negative ground that is.) This causes full battery voltage to flow through the field. The result is that the pole-pieces in the field take on a low-level permanent magnetism.
