Subject: | Re: OSH day 3 for me. |
Started the day waking up to rain falling on the roof. Coffee & toast and
off to an 0830 briefing. We launch a 9 ship sortie with me as lead. Right
after join up I notice my cylinder head over 285!!! I turned the lead ove
r to #3 returned for an immediate landing. It turned out a 1/4 bolt had br
oken that connects the push/pull rod to the gills. The air pressure than s
lammed them shut. A new bolt and I was ready for the next sortie in the af
ternoon. We had to wait for all the mass formation, Cessna's, Pipers and B
eaches to come in.
Lazonia for lunch. Hugh really Hugh steaks for dinner this evening. 13 pl
anes on the RPA line with more on the way. Lots of old AND friends this ye
ar. Some east coast old timmer showed up with some FNGs in tow.

Subject: OSH 2nd day for me.
Well troops finally at OSH. Actually got here yesterday about noon. Dodge
CB around ATL but because of a late start ON in HVC.
Than yesterday had a CAVU flight to IKK where I spent about a hour with my
Collings buddies. From there to OSH via the shoreline around ORD, again it
was CAVU. Early this am I GIB in my airplane with a 2 ship. Big CB passe
d south but not over OSH, but its threat caused us to cut short our flight.
We did a 9 ship over the field this afternoon. Because of a high over ca
st the air was smooth.
We had a BBQ dinner last night and again at lunch today. Will be headed to
dinner at the tent when finished here. 10 RPA a/c here already with more
reported on the way. Looking forward to seeing lots of old friends.
