Guys
This is about the best graphic i've seen of the PLAA insignia. I think you could
possibly scale it to suit the size requirement.

Did you check to make sure the primer was down and locked in the right position?
Happened to me once.

Hi Walter
TC did to specify the type and dimensions J
The details came back in a letter from Ottawa authorising 4call
letters underneath the horizontal stabilizer. It also gave me
permission to retain the dark green camouflage (their words) and the
countrys insignia. I was then informed where the insignia was to be
located and at what size. This included the number on the cowling and
registration number on the tail. I was instructed to carry this
authorization letter with me in the aircraft.
I have no idea whether this is a new TC initiative or the product of
an over-zealous clerk.

Phil;
Interesting. TC certainly does specify minimum dimensions and other details
for registration marks.
They assuredly do not specify PLAAF, or any other military or countries
markings, dimensions, or any other information.
Where are you located. I have a "pounce" pattern for the insignia if you
can't find anything else. In Oliver, BC.

If you look close at the graphic of insignia, you'll see the space between
the bar and the star is wider on the left side than the right. The drawing
needs to be balanced. The left side is more accurate. AAMOF the space
between the star and bar could be a tad wider. The distance should be about
3 x the width of the white band around the star.
I found this out on a trip to China 1999 when I showed off my CJ-6's paint
job in a photo to the museum folks in Beijing. They thought it was very
nice but pointed out that the bars were to close to the star. It was a long
time before I could bring myself to tell all the DVT guys (whom I copied
it from) that it was slightly wrong.

As a follow on,
I am beginning to wonder if Transport Canada is giving me poor information.
Could someone please confirm their 'official' PLAAF insignia is indeed 24"x59"?
Is this the same dimension on fuselage and wings?
Thanks for the help so far.
Phil

Hi Phil;
My pattern was taken from my CJ prior to paint stripping.
I will check the dimensions and advise. Appeared to be the same in all
locations and too damn big!
