    Subject: New CJ oil cooler?
From: "Bitterlich, Mark G CIV Det Cherry Point, MALS-14 64E" <mark.bitterlich@navy.mil>
I am not at home and do not have access to my "list" of addresses, so possibly someone else can help, but there are several good places that will rebuild an oil cooler. The idea here being that you can get a oil cooler that flows better and cools better and just uses the same end pieces (the pieces on either side). You end up with something in some cases better than new. This has been done with several Russian oil coolers, not sure about CJ's. Gents, after inspecting the contributions of OPEC leaking out the oil cooler outlet in my CJ, I've come to the conclusion that my oil cooler has sprung a leak. Anybody have a new oil cooler setting on a shelf or know where to get one. I have an opportunity to purchase a used one but was hoping someone on the list might know the whereabouts of a new one. I've pulled mine out and now realize I'd like the best chance at only having to do this once. Mark is correct there are many facilities that overhaul aircraft oil coolers including the old brass & copper style used on virtually all warbird types. Two that I have used over the years are Pacific Oil Coolers in the Los Angeles area and Ultimate Oil Coolers in Winnipeg (Aero Recip Ltd.) Both have done CJ6 coolers. Question is cost of o'haul vs new if available. Check with Doug Sapp. Walt -----Original Message----- From: jrittenbach Sent: Friday, January 27, 2012 8:41 PM Subject: Yak-List: New CJ oil cooler? Walt, Rather than overhaul the oil cooler than came with my 1983 CJ, I got a new one from Doug Sapp. No issues since.
