Get it straight from the horses' mouth. Dave Harcourt # 205-936-9502 Doc From: owner-yak-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-yak-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of Ted Waltman Sent: Thursday, February 16, 2012 1:12 PM Subject: Yak-List: Ferry pilot charges? There are lots of potential ferry pilots listed on Barnstormers (and I know a couple of folks recently posted here). Can someone please tell me what a ferry pilot typically charges, e.g.: - per hour - per day minimum - max # of hours typically willing to fly per day on long trips - per day if stuck due to bad wx - other fees? Thank you, Ted Waltman

Hello Stewart, not sure if I understand the setup of your fuel system on the 18 T . But some time ago we had a sudden misreading of the fuel gauge as well, showing only 40 litres with full tanks. Then we found out that the float which is made of foam plastic material has shrunk a lot and was no longer able to float in gasoline. I then made new floats from stainless steel .2mm and soldered with soldering iron or micro torch. Youd need a special flux for stainless though. So you better pick brass sheet for copying the floats - saves you a lot of offensive language .... Servus Vic, I have to say that you are a genius. Your skills and craftsmanship is outstanding, thank you for sharing your ideas. Where others talk - you do, too bad you are 9000 km away. Take care. cheers Elmar

Walt, you are absolutely right. Too bad some people don't listen to you, I guess they like to do things the hard way. I always appreciate your postings on the list very much, thank you for not giving up. cheers Elmar

Gra Di , Elmar, great, you did not sell your Nanchang ! We all are waiting for some pictures about your activities on the plane -- not yet finished to present to the public ? Sure enough I could post some more photos about mods but first Id like to do real tests on the Yak. But unfortunately since last August most Russian registered aircraft in Europe have been grounded by their respective CAA, after the Federation of Private Pilots has been made illegal by the Russian Transport Ministry. So here we are in a fight with authorities for a fresh reg, still undecided if this will be Lithuanian, Hungarian, German, San Marino, or a new Russian registration. Each of these options has its own specific drawbacks, so I will post any news that definitely prove to work. But we expect to need another few months of fighting for the air.
