I have Hal's "earlier CJ" with the trim wire in question. It still looks
and works just fine. When I purchased the airplane though, the elevator
trim neutral light did not work. I tried replacing the bulb. No luck.
Then while troubleshooting the system, we noticed there was no slug /nub
on the wire to activate the trip switch for the light. I installed a
replacement slug and everything works fine now.

My CJ was filthy down there when I got it. I had to take the seats out, sit there
knotted up like a pretzel with a scrub brush and WD/40 to soften/scrub all
that stuff out, then wiped it, lubed it and got a shop vac down in there for the
loose stuff.
It's a despicable job.
