Subject: | CJ main gear tires |
Good day all
Does anyone have the name of a company that supplies main gear tires for a CJ ?
On the fuel feed front changed the orientation of the vent tube end so the 45 faces
into the airflow and changed fuel cap gaskets
Better but still feeds out of right tank more than left
Will keep you all posted
Thanks

Doug Sapp also sells the 500x150 tires. They are Chinese tires. But
you can also have them retreaded by Desser, which will last 4 times as
long as the new Desser tire and you won't have a balance problem because
Desser balances all retreads in-house. Their new tires are horrible
when it comes to balancing on the CJ or Yak hubs. And that goes for the
nose wheel too.
Here's my recommendation based on many, many purchases of new Desser
main and nose wheel tires. First, the new Desser tires will cost you
about $170 each. Doug's tire are about half that cost. Desser will
retread Doug's new tire for about $85. So order the tires from Doug and
have Doug ship them direct to Desser for retreading. You will spend the
same amount of money, ie: about $170 per tire plus shipping and the
retreaded tire will last 300-400 hours compared to the new Desser tires
which will last only about 100 hours. These figures assume you takeoff
and land the majority of the time on hard surface runways.
