Her is the scenario. Pilot : Comm +700 hrs 250 on yak 52 Aerobatic rating Aerobatic display rating Aircraft : Yak 52 1985 AF TT 876 Eng TT 1850 smoh 425 After 2 pax flights he loaded the 3rd pax and took off , fuel on board 45/50 Oil +8L After climb out , as he throttled back an audible "crump" was heard and the engine lost all power, as if it was set to idle (38%) Pilot cycled the throttle the engine momentarily tried to pick up revs but failed and continued to mill as if in and idle. Pilot closed the flaps and the gear and converted height into speed putting the aircraft down wheels up on the beach on the downwind leg of the circuit, no injuries The prop is shorter and some structural damage to the tail section and rudder /elevator from the surf. Let me know what you find out with these two checks. We'll proceed from there after these two checks. A. Kind regards Brad -----Original Message----- From: owner-yak-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-yak-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of Roger Kemp M.D. Sent: 06 May 2012 05:36 AM Subject: Re: Yak-List: Sudden loss of power susequent emergency landing Did you have a chance to look at fuel and oil pressure?
