Morning to you also Brad...more like early Monday morning now down under. I can speculate on what caused the loss of power but the tear down will answ er the majority of your questions. Having gone through an engine issue one y ear ago now, the obvious as speculated was not the answer. They were close b ut no banana. Wait for the tear down. The answers will be forthcoming. Tough to do in this age of instant gratification for sure but the answer at tear d own may surprise you. It did for me. Glad all walked away without injury. =46rom there to this, it was not what I thought as revealed by the tear down . It was maliciously introduced FOD. Bottom line, it will be a better plane w hen done as yours will be also. Good luck. Dear all, Its quite emotional, seeing the aircraft you have tendered so carefully lying on the beach , helpless was really came to mind, but even more precious than this was all the encouragement off this particular forum, Thanks to Dennis , and Rodger , Jill and Mike Beresford. May we long continue to build the community through these kind and considerate replies, they are ostensibly the very back bone of the yak community. I will wait to see what the CAA here recommend , (not really confident that they will even pitch up to inspect the situation.) Hopefully we will be able make a speedy and complete restoration Kindest regards Brad -----Original Message----- From: owner-yak-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-yak-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of Roger Kemp M.D. Sent: 06 May 2012 07:22 PM Subject: Re: Yak-List: Sudden loss of power susequent emergency landing Morning to you also Brad...more like early Monday morning now down under. Subject: Main Air pop-off valve repair kit
I remember a while back someone in the USA offering a repair kit for Yak52 main air pop-off valves. I think it involved super-glue somewhere along the way... Can anyone remind me where to get the kit from please (I'm in the UK). My valve has been playing up recently - sometimes only allowing the air to build to 3kg/cm, and at other times up the 6kg/cm (with associated worry from the person in the back seat)! Any help appreciated. Thanks Nigel

Nigel, Have you removed and replaced the pop off valve piston and possibly the spring, if the spring is rusted or corroded? Both Jill at M14P and Cliff Coy at Border Air in Swanton, Vermont sell the replacement pop off valve pistons which have the seal. Not too expensive either. Give it a try. I think it will fix your problem. Dennis A.
