A quarter (shilling) works well for fuel caps on a YAK.
But the owning a CJ/YAK one should follow the old Triumph car creed, "Bring
your tools".

Instead of $2.94 (plus + "3 Business Day Shipping $6.01"?) for the
screwdriver, why not just pick one up at the local Sears & Roebuck for
89 cents?

It was priced at 99 cents, but they have it on sale now.

A Shilling was 12 Old Pence when 240 Old Pence made up 1.00. For the
mathematicians amongst you there were thus 20 Shillings in every 1.00.....
As there were 4 Farthings to each Old Penny there were 960 Farthings to each
1.00 and to everybody's relief Farthings were withdrawn from UK circulation
in 1960. Decimalisation was well over due by then but we had to wait another
12 years for it !
The last time I handled one was when we as kids placed them on the railway
line to see how big we could get them rolled ............

Some times they use lead washers as seals, much as they do on the air syste
m. They much softer of course than aluminum and will seal better.

Dave,
s Doug Sapp already said, don't use a Buna-N washer on the fitting. You
eed a metric crush washer. Here is a link to some metric crush washer
hich may fit the fitting. I'd go with the aluminum crush washers.

This is the closest description found to date, but no idea if =9CBun

is the right material for gasoline immersed applications.

Any ideas on material or possible sources?

I was suggesting the idea, more than the source. The Sears nearest to me is in
San Antonio, 120 miles away !
