How goes progress? Will it be a threaded attach like the current blades? -------- Michael Di Marco China Blue mgdimarco@yahoo.com 407-608-3290 Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=372947#372947

Subject: My project CJ6A is still for sale
    From: Brian Lloyd <brian@lloyd.com>
I had a serious set-back on getting my project into the air ... yet again. Now it has gotten very simple -- I need the space in my hangar for another airplane. So, I have a 1967 CJ6A airframe well on the way to restoration. All the metal work is done and the gear has been rebuilt. It currently has a Huosai engine hung on the front belonging to Dennis Nickson. (Dennis wants to sell the engine but that is a separate issue and you would need to negotiate with him directly.) Here is a bullet list of where it is: - All the sheet metal work is done. You could start painting if you wanted to. - Doug Sapp center-section aux tanks completely installed. - Interior cleaned, stripped, and painted light grey to protect it. - Airframe is on its feet. Here is what it needs: - Pneumatic system inspection. (Everything was cleaned and overhauled but that was many years ago. But it hasn't been used since.) - Fabricate and install electrical system. - Fabricate and install instrument panels and instruments. - Recover control surfaces. - Install new glass. - Paint. At this point I will entertain any offer that involves removing the aircraft. The fuselage is in Ione, CA (Randy Thorne's shop), while the wings, canopy, and smaller components are in Cameron Park, CA (my hangar). This airframe is in *VERY GOOD* condition. Barry Hancock inspected it as part of trying to sell it for me. If you have questions about its condition I think Barry would be willing to give you his opinion but he did seem impressed with the condition and quality. This is one hell of a deal for someone looking to build a world-class CJ6A. -- Brian Lloyd, WB6RQN/J79BPL 3191 Western Dr. Cameron Park, CA 95682 brian@lloyd.com +1.767.617.1365 (Dominica) +1.916.877.5067 (USA)

    Subject: CJ/Housai Performance
    From: "mgdimarco" <mgdimarco@yahoo.com>
It is rather difficult to decipher the performance data in the translated manuals. For example, the rated thrust table uses the term "g./hp-hr." for fuel flow values. Anyone have a clue what that is and -- more importantly -- how to convert that to gallons or liter per hour? There is no table for intake pressure other than at sea level. Do we presume 25.4mm (1 inch) per thousand feet climb? Is 65% rated thrust then 1950 RPM at 450mm at 6500ft? Bottom line, if anyone has some detailed performance values or charts I would much appreciate having a copy. In exchange, I'll provide the REAL (i.e. paid to have them measured and calculated) c.g. station values of the CJ-6A. -------- Michael Di Marco China Blue mgdimarco@yahoo.com 407-608-3290 Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=372984#372984

Yes. This is on my web site. http://www.yak-52.com/Power%20Settings.htm. There is a power chart from the M14 manual AND a write up below it which explains how to convert grams per horsepower/hour to gallons/liters. Hopefully this will help you calculate what you're looking for. Dennis A. -----Original Message----- From: mgdimarco Sent: Sunday, May 13, 2012 12:13 PM Subject: Yak-List: CJ/Housai Performance It is rather difficult to decipher the performance data in the translated manuals. For example, the rated thrust table uses the term "g./hp-hr." for fuel flow values. Anyone have a clue what that is and -- more importantly -- how to convert that to gallons or liter per hour? That is grams / brake hp / hr. In Western manuals this is always expressed in Lb / BHP / Hr, not in liquid measure. One Lb = 453 grams. One US gal (gasoline) of course is 6 lbs There is no table for intake pressure other than at sea level. Do we presume 25.4mm (1 inch) per thousand feet climb? Is 65% rated thrust then 1950 RPM at 450mm at 6500ft? It's closer to 1.1" per 1000" or 28 mm but a moot point. This is not an "altitude" engine. 65% power is 2250 RPM at 660 mm/hg at whatever altitude you can maintain that MP. An altitude engine (Eg: R1340) uses a specific MP for take-off at 600 Hp (Not full throttle) and has a "critical" altitude of 5500' (standard air) above which you can no longer maintain rated power (550 Hp.) The "critical" altitude for the Huosai or M14 etc. is approx. sea level and all power tables are given for that altitude. Bottom line, if anyone has some detailed performance values or charts I would much appreciate having a copy. In exchange, I'll provide the REAL (i.e. paid to have them measured and calculated) c.g. station values of the CJ-6A. Hope that helps a little. Correction: I wrote "65% power is 2250 RPM @ 660 mm/hg". That should read 1950 RPM. 2250 is the RPM for rated power. I should type 1000 times "Proof read then Send" No, probably wouldn't help. Dennis, good numbers for the M-14; do you or anyone else have the same for the Housai 285HP? Thanks Phil Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=373003#373003

I don't have the same chart for the Housai. But from the text you should be able to calculate gallons and liters per hour. Dennis A.
