Very rarely is the problem with the instrument. I would go for the oil pressure transducer. Most of the time the oil pressure transducer is painted brown. It will look like the fuel pressure transducer which, most of the time, will be painted yellow. If need be, trace the oil pressure flexible hose from the oil pump back to the firewall. It is the small hose from the left side of the oil pump (pilot's view left). Dennis A. Good morning/evening, I am new to this forum, new to Yaks and new to flying so please forgive my lack of forum manners. I own a Yak18t, I have a million questions but the most pressing at this stage is the red illumination bulbs which fold down above instruments do not operate. On the switch panel on the right hand side is a instrument lighting switch and a variable Pot which I assume operate the lighting. My question; is there a common problem with the instrument lighting I should look at first before I go hunting around at all the other possibilities? Is there a fuse anywhere? Also while doing the 100 Hr I discovered a very large electrical piece of equipment under the rear seats on the right hand side with plugs and switches on it, all appeared off, anyone know what this is? Thank you all in advance Andrew Park

Nice video, very nice looking prop but I get the suspicious feeling it feels paid for :-) Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=373936#373936

    From: "Vic" <vicmolnar@aol.com>
Hello, recently had the oil pump removed to check seals - in the fuel pump as well. The check valve was an easy push fit, so this was not correct ? Yes, the oil tank leaks into the engine somewhat, no problem, have fitted a shut-off ball valve in the feed hose to the pump. What worried me more was the wear on the flats of the fuel pump drive shaft because this was assembled dry in the past - with steel dust collecting in the space between pumps - not great for the seals. So I filled the space with PTFE/teflon grease. Does anyone have an idea what the pipe connection on the fuel pump is for ? This leads between the two seals to this groove with holes. I utilized this access to fill up the space with grease in order to lube the seals : Gasoline is not great for shaft seals. OK it was a cheap fix. There was a loose nut floating around in the instrument. We took the instrument apart, found the nut and re-attached it.....problem solved. It must have become lodged and shorted something out. It is fine now. Thank you for the help. Subject: Need Fuel System Parts for TechoAvia SP55
    From: "SP55" <francisbutler@mac.com>
Sorting through multiple fuel indication and low fuel warning issues on my TechnoAvia SP55M. Going to have to replace the cheap westach guage with one that I can calibrate to the voltage output of my fuel senders. Anyone have any experience with Aerospace Logic programmable fuel level gauges? Also looking for a part. See attached photo. This is a switch that activates the right fuel tank low light. It is magnetically activated. Could not get any continuity between the posts. The switch part is glued into the back of this piece. Would this be a common part with any of the other Yaks or CJ's? I need one. Also need a float for the left fuel low indication light. Looked in the tank and my float don't float. So if anyone is familiar with TechnoAvia fuel system parts and where to buy some, please send me the info. Thanks Francisbutler@mac.com Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=373964#373964 Attachments: http://forums.matronics.com//files/imag0121_199.jpg

Vic; I suspect you are looking at the cavity drain line connection. Should be one on each side of the fuel pump (1/8" NPT). One is used with a fitting and pipeline to overboard which is checked periodically for any fuel flow indicating pump seal leakage. The other should be plugged.
