This diaphragm is for the M14 carburetor. It will not work on the Housai carburetor. http://www.wlacrussianeng.co.uk/main.asp?ID=5&Product=763 Dennis A. Will the YAK 52 diaphragm work? If so check with west London Aero Club. They have them advertised on their website. No, unfortunately, the M14 carburetor diaphragm will not work on a Housai carburetor. I did a test several years ago before our friends in the UK had new diaphragms fabricated. I 'borrowed' a diaphragm from Doug and tried it. What I found was some of the holes in the M14 diaphragm do not exist in the Housai diaphragm. Dennis A. I also know that Mark Jefferies in the UK was having new diaphragms made. No disk in the center. All one had to do is transfer the disk from the old diaphragm to the new one. A. George is right. Whether you decide to use Mogas or Avgas (or both), the carburetor diaphragm 'have a life' [Laughing] ... and it will eventually need replacing. Should be inspected on a regular basis ... or like some people do ... wait until carburator starts dripping after shut-down. http://www.airliners.net/photo/2167817/L/ Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=385186#385186

After some more runups and a little more reading I do believe it is the car burator diaphram. Doug is out of them. The only place I found was an adve rtisement for parts on the barnstormers website directly from China. I am getting way over charged but I don't really have a choice. I'll let you kn ow what happens. > Subject: Yak-List: Re: CJ-6 Engine trouble > From: jetjockey@alumni.utexas.net > Date: Thu=2C 11 Oct 2012 21:53:01 -0700 > To: yak-list@matronics.com > > > Some years back my aircraft was mistakenly fueled with auto fuel containi ng ethanol. Pappy said 240 Mph but did you mean 240 KMph? 240mph is nearly 400 kilometers per hour and (aside from being nearly impossible) is just too fast in a Yak 52. Tj Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=385193#385193

Assuming Pappy listed wrong units or else that pilot was doing 10% over VNE and you are working hard to make a Yak 52TW do that, and parts departing would be the expected result. Had a little too much of airplanes going over VNE and losing trim tabs in the last few years... It happened again to another airplane at Reno this year. Pappy's point remains, check the trim tabs carefully, they prone to getting smacked back there. Tj Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=385200#385200

The range markings on all the Westernized Yaks are dubious. Compare the oil temp limits in the W to the "book" and they are way off in the ones I flew. Same with ASI That ASI says your VNE is 450KmPH which is nearly 100KmPH more than the VNE for a Yak 52. Note the correct Yak VNE is 223mph which corresponds to the beginning of that ASI Yellow Arc. Yak 52 Tech Description says 360 Yak 52TW Tech Description says 360 Yak 52TW Flight Manual says 420 That installed Airspeed says 450 Beware translations in Yaks YMMV.. My YAK-52 doesn't like much above 360-370 kph. Kind of like a T-28 being pushed above 300 kts. Redline was 340 as I recall. Joining the 300 Knot Club was where I first heard the saying "Shakin' like a dog shittin' peach seeds". Just because the gauge says you "can", doesn't necessarily mean you "should" go there. (Excluding of course jobs for the young and fearless where taxpayers pay for airplanes with armed ejection seats!)
