After a bit of wrestling it has been liberated from the airframe. I'm assuming the flat spots on the upper / lower collars are grip points to remove the end caps. But that's about as far as I got before I had to call it a night. If you have actuator disassembly / rebuild experience, please talk to me...what is the correct procedure for disassembly and is there anything else I should know about the process as a whole? I have a seal kit on order from Jill - and all shuttle valves have been rebuilt / reinstalled. Thanks all! However, I had no one to ask when I did mine on my YAK-50 and the one thing I missed was that those ends that you mention with the flat spots on them *ALSO* have a *LOCK SCREW* that you have to loosen before putting on the big wrenches to remove the end pieces. Look carefully. If nothing else, Russian designs are consistent ... so even though I have never seen or worked on a YAK-52 actuator, my guess is that they too will have lock screws. Between the paint and chipping, it's a little tough to tell what it is other than possibly a short, shallow slot...? That gear paint is thick stuff, too. But I appreciate the head's up, Mark. If there's one thing I've learned on the Yak, it's to do everything in an "exploratory" manner and to triple the time estimate for completion! Thank you, Sir! In my case, an A&P wanted to put a TORCH to mine to "loosen them up". Thank Heavens I found the set screw before that happened!
