Has anyone replicated it in modern materials or come up with an off the shelf usable alternative? I removed mine for internal cleaning and was absolutely staggered by the weight of it..... Its brass and probably weights about 25kg! You'd gain some good performance if a firm like 'MOCAL' would replicate it in aluminum. Any ideas? The advantages seem to be a shorter run of the oil hoses, easier hose repl acement and possible cabin heat using the oil cooler. He told me he installed a Broussard/Stearman oil cooler instead and it works like a charm. Can't remember his name but he might read this list and tell us more. cheers Elmar ________________________________ Message 10 ____________________________________ Time: 06:47:32 PM PST US From: "Walter Lannon" Subject: Re: Yak-List: oil cooler overhaul Hi Mike; See if you can determine where it's leaking from. If from a fitting that is likely repairable without too much trouble. If leaking from the core it will need overhaul or replacement. There are two overhaul facilities I know of. Ultimate Oil Cooler in Winnipeg (in the Aero Recip. facility) and Pacific Oil Cooler in the Los Angeles area. Been meaning to look up the contact info. at the hangar but keep forgetting. I have used both over the years. I suspect there are more in the far east (Toronto or Montreal) but don't know. A core leak can be very expensive to repair so if that is the problem you may want to get a new one from Doug.
