I assume you're talking about the rocket pods. Boy I bet that 52 has a ridiculous top speed and I bet too it would want to stay out of range of a bunch of AK-47s. Those pods must weight a ton! But boy could you blow up a lot of stuff. Anyway I think those pods are a standard for Russian helicopters and ground attack A/C. I believe they fire the ARINCO S-5 rocket (about 3" x 4' ). This first time I've ever seen a picture with any armament on any CJ or Yak. Real interesting! I made rocket rails for my CJ ( 3 to a side) and use the fuel tank cover bolts as the mounting point. Total weight for a rail and 3 make believe rockets was 4 lbs. I could not measure the drag they caused but it got to be there. But I want to know more about the "RK-30" in the back. Looks like a neat looking little jet. Jim "Pappy" Goolsby In a message dated 3/20/2013 3:15:31 A.M. That is the Yak - 30, a light jet trainer, of which there was also a single seat version, the 32. Six aircraft were made, two single seat and four twin seat. It was an excellent plane, but the order was given, mainly for political reasons to the Czechs for the L - 29. A couple survive, and I know one was for sale not that long ago. Hopefully that is a recent (year) photo; good to see the planes in that hangar getting cleaned. The hangar is at the Monino museum (Central Museum of the Air Forces) east of Moscow. Not the easiest museum to get into and that hangar is generally off limits. I was able to talk some of the young guys into letting me take a look around inside. I have quite a few pictures of this Yak. Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=396645#396645

Hi Kevin - sorry, but it did go into service and I think something like sixty are already in service in Russia, and also orders from Algeria; Venezuela and indeed Syria (now cancelled) and a couple of others. Subject: Looking for yak52 rear cockpit gear selector
From: "Bitterlich, Mark G CIV NAVAIR, WD" <mark.bitterlich@navy.mil>
Roger, I have always wondered how that works, and if you have time possibly you can educate me. You mentioned you have several hundred hours instructing in the YAK-52. Do you charge to instruct in other owners YAK-52's, or do you rent your own aircraft out? Mark -----Original Message----- From: owner-yak-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-yak-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of Roger Baker Sent: Monday, March 18, 2013 18:31 Subject: Re: Yak-List: Looking for yak52 rear cockpit gear selector I have done several hundred hours of instructing in the 52....checkouts, acro training, and spin training. I am unwilling to work in a rear cockpit in which the rear gear selector has been blocked off in neutral, removed or otherwise emasculated. My choice, of course. But the airplane was designed to be fully flyable by an IP in the rear seat...and that's the way I like it to be. YMMV Roger Baker On Mar 18, 2013, at 2:58 PM, "A.
