It was about 36 degrees F here yesterday. I pulled the lower, rear plugs and pulled the prop through. Cleaned the plugs, re-installed / torqued them, opened the oil drain valve and pulled the prop through an additional 14 blades. Confirmed oil tank level was above "MIN." I hit the battery switch and primed normally. It took 2 tries and caught. It seems to run smoothly and easily sailed through the mag-check. After some idle time I pushed it up to about 50%. While the oil pressure does not bottom out or even sink into the red, it only tops out at the upper end of the yellow arc - just before entering the green arc of "normal" - apparently regardless of engine RPM. I know someone will ask about the gauge arc-marking upper / lower limitations and I regret I did not visually record that info - only that I believe my gauges are marked status quo. My A & P mentioned something about the possibility of "old oil coagulating" in the sending line - especially in chilly weather. Any thoughts??? Whether it would fit in the Yk 11 I do not know. Doug Sapp could supply a new one if it is compatible.
