Yes a good chance. I forwarded your request to my son Cliff. I believe he has a serviceable one. It has been our experience that the problem is usually a broken wire just behind the connector. If you have not disassembled the connector, check it as a simple wire solder may solve our problem. Thank you very much George. Can you please give me Cliff's e-mail address. I will check the wiring behind the connector. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A quick remark : I have received 3 offers for the big GSR-3000M Generator Unit ... and a friend suggesting I replace the big and heavy Yak Generator by a 50 amp B&C alternator ... (probably a good idea !) But just to confirm, I'm looking for the small DTA-2 Tacho-generator that drives the % RPM needle : see photo. I do not have an answer for where you can buy them other than complete. That said, the CJ-6 air start valve, and the Russian Yak (and other model) air start valve are IDENTICAL. Just different writing on the outside. :-) Last one I ordered came from Doug Sapp. This has been a well kept secret, but no longer. :-) Mark -----Original Message----- From: owner-yak-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-yak-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of Bill vH Sent: Tuesday, May 14, 2013 13:10 Subject: Yak-List: Air start valve solenoid Does anyone have an air start valve where the valve part is TU but the solenoid still works? Subject: Yak parachute
Hi, I am seeking for an advice on chinese parachute. I bought two new parachute for Yaks. They are chinese parachute, brand new, looking very much like the russian parachute. My "friend" told me that the Yaks have now these parachute as a standard equipment.(???) So I brought them to a parachute shop for inspection. The guy told me that they looked very much like russian parachute. Not too bad quality. Good copy. He knows how to inspect them BUT there is one point on which he has no idea. The material in which is done the parachute is not usual. The fabric is very porous. He told me that he would not count on it to save his life !!! Still the kind of parachute is vry specific. It deploys itself in two lobes and he told me that this technique is old fashionned but works well. Considering this he can't tell me if this technique require porous fabric or if the parachute are really dangerous. Does anyone have an experience on this? Thanks to all for any hints. best regards Didier

Didier, The porosity of a chute is kind a important. A number of years ago, I brought two used chutes (US Military back packs which were in excellent condition). however when my packer look at them and at my weight (215Lb) she recommended that if I had to use them, "Head for some trees, cause you're going to break your ankles". Sure enough when I brought my new Strongs, (My packer had nothing to do with it.) the first thing they asked me was my weight. And sure enough, these chutes were less porous than the others. Unless you can ascertain from a Chinese packer or manufacture of the chutes what weight class or limit these chutes will take, and you fit in those limits, I'd take your packer concerns seriously. The Chinese in general, are a light weight species of human beings. It makes perfect sense (to me) their chutes would be made to support a lighter weight. Hello=2C I have just replaced the engine on my CJ (Housai 285hp). I am unable to st art to the engine. Here is what I noticed. First=2C there is no resistanc e when turning the prop. I can turn the prop with 2 fingers easily all the way around. Second=2C when pushing the starter the prop moves about a qua rter turn then just stops. Pushing the starter again it doesn't move at al l. I re-fill the air tank and again it only moves a quarter turn then stop s. I am suspecting it is a problem with the air pushing the prop around bu t I'm not sure where to look or what else it might be. Thanks for the advice=2C Tom

I assume you checked your valve clearance first and set them. Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=400658#400658

Plugs are all installed? Air start valves are tight and safety wired? Valve l ash set? Do you have compression in each of the cylinders. That is an easy t o check. Leave one plug in the cylinder, put your finger over the open plug p ort preferably the front bank. If you are developing compression you will fe el it in your thumb as you pull the prop thru. This weight remark is right. I am more heavy than a Chinese and I want my ch ute to be my very last chance. Not my very last suit... I will try to have an answer from Lithuania but without certitude I have pai d these chutes for nothing. Even if they look new and good. If you want to do a basic check pull the front plug on a easy cylinder shine a light in the plug hole, move the prop and see if the piston moves. If it does at least the prop is connected to something other than the reduction gears.
