Subject: | Fund Raiser Behind By 25% - Please Contribute Today! |
Dear Listers,
The percentage of members making a Contribution to support the Lists this year
is currently behind last year by at this time by roughly 25%. We got off to a
slow start this year with the network DNS issues on the kickoff weekend, so please
take this opportunity to show your support for the Matronics Lists and Forums!
Please remember that it is *solely* your direct Contributions that keep these Lists
and Forums up and running and most importantly - AD FREE! If the members
don't want to support the Lists directly, then I might have to add advertisements
to offset the costs of running the Lists. But I don't want to have to do
that. I really like the non-commercial atmosphere here and I think that a lot
of the members appreciate that too.
Please take a moment to make a Contribution today in support of the continued ad-free
operation of all these Lists:
http://www.matronics.com/contribution
Or, drop a personal check in the mail to:

I want to send out a word of appreciation to all of the members that have already
made their generous Contribution to support the Lists! Thank you!

Subject: | Re: My New CJ has an Orange Belly??? |
Not surprising. From stripping and painting many parts of my plane, it was clear
that the PLAAF often used high-visibility markings. My plane (for instance)
at one time had bright red gear doors and the flap was always yellow. Doubtless
this helped people on the ground check for correct configuration for solo pilots.
My cockpit had no fewer than 3 original repaints (two shades of gray and a green/gray
color that I ended using where I repainted).
There was also a medium-dark green upper/dark gray lower and a very brownish dark
green upper with bright blue lower scheme that was widely used (one of the
planes in our group has the original dark green + light blue paint UNDER a Chinese
green/gray repaint).
Being a former competitive model builder, I wish there was more information about
the color schemes.
But some desire for a high-visibility scheme (from the ground) is probably the
best answer.

Pete,
Doug Sapp said, he has received later model airframe parts which have orange bottoms.
I bet you are correct about the high visibility paint. This CJ also has
a weapons grade heat system and defrost which is mostly intact. Sadly the heat
muffs, one on each side, are missing.
Thanks for your reply.

Called a couple of the usual suspects who did not have one in stock. I have heard

Keith, None of them are great. We make them here. I forwarded your request
to Cliff Coy. I know they are behind on them just now.

Keith,
Hmmmmm, all this time I thought I was a "prime suspect". I have the
cylinder base nut wrenches in stock. The good tool Russian or Chinese has
a "collar" around the top of the socket portion of the tool for added
strength. Ask for part number H6.G.808. Please contact me off list.
Best,
Doug
